I plan to have my windows tinted in the next week.
I have a 2010 GS convertible cyber grey. I am not worried about tint laws or tickets. I just want to get a high quality job and have the best look and still have function.... meaning not so dark it makes the car a nightmare to drive at night and back up ext.
a local reputable shop uses Llumar ATC and Llumar CTS is this a high quality brand? should I get the CTS?
I will not tint darker than 20% on anything.
should I go 30% on the sides and 20% on the rear or 30% all around or 20% all around?
Can't speak to brand - I believe mine was done with a 3M product but don't know specifics other than that. I was also concerned about being too dark but I went with 20% all around with nothing done to front windshield at all. I have no complaints night driving and it's plenty dark in the daytime. Here is a post-tint recent pic in full sunshine.
My tint guy had 18%. He told me I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 18 and 20. I opted to do sides and back at 18 and a 5% visor across the windshield. Mine is ceramic tint, but I can't recall the brand at the moment. I have no issues at night.
Does the window tint lessen the glare we get off the dash? This is the only thing I don't like about my C-6.

It definitely improved glare on my double din aftermarket head unit. Before the tint, glare from the back glass made it impossible to see the screen on the head unit.

Yeh, only time I have an issue with the HU is when the targa top is off - not much tint can do about that and it's not a bid deal to me. The front strip might help with glare. I really don't have a complain there with no tint strip. I can still see everything fine but sometimes it does actually reflect the box around the HUD onto the windshield but again no big deal to me. I'm 6'4" so I tend to sit high up as far as my view out the windshield and a tint strip would be a distraction for me.
Agree with all the comments. I don't remember what brand that everyone currently says is the best, but I've had Lumar in years past and its been excellent. I can't remember the brand on my C6 GS but it is ceramic and its great. I did 20% all the way around, including the windshield strip. First thing I do on all my cars is get it tinted. Just make sure you go to a proven and reputable tint shop. The guy I used here locally does really high end cars and does a great job; he's done all of my vehicles. With the vert, you don't have to worry about that hatch rear window....all the tint guys say due to its curves and size that its a real PITA to tint.
Good luck, 20% tint all the way around. I do have the sunshade in the windshield while in this parking lot, so it makes it
appear darker. Glare is kinda bad, but you get the idea. Only shot I had of the windshield.

I know you have your answers but I'll add a little security for you. I had 20% Llumar CTX installed 6 years ago and it still looks like it did the day I brought it home
I will go with the 20% all the way around and I am going to get the best brand the shop I know best has which is Llumar CTX which is a ceramic tint.
Thank your for all the pictures and information! Very much appreciated
As someone else stated, though, don't be surprised when even the best shop you can find raises eyebrows about the rear window. I know the shop I used did and they asked me to just leave the car all day so they could take the time to get it right. There are still a couple of spots that aren't perfect. Must be a bugaboo to do. On top of the curved window, it's also difficult to work around the black dot matrix around the top.

Just FYI, OP’s car is a vert, so he doesn’t have to worry bout the hatch window......

One of the best tint shops in my area Won't do a C6 any more because the back curved window is a PITA and time consuming. Also use a tint safe glass cleaner such as Invisable Glass.
How in the world do you guys with illegal tint pass inspection??
Same question from me. I just did the back window. I have had to remove driver and passenger side tint on 2 previous cars so I don't even try it anymore

2 perks of living in Florida - no state income taxes and no vehicle inspections. Law enforcement tends to be lenient on tint as long as you are obeying the law. They pull you for anything else, they may cite you for the tint as well, or if they suspect something else may be going on, illegal tint can be a reason to pull you over. I just read an article in the news the other day about a driver arrested on DUI after being pulled over for illegal tint. I didn't even bother with illegal tint when I lived in North Carolina. If you didn't get pulled for it while driving, you would surely not pass the annual inspection and have to remove it then. My son actually got very good at installing tint because he insisted on running dark tint and every inspection time he would pull it out, get inspected, then put new tint right back in.

I had Llumar tint on my c-5 and had no issues with it. Just got my c-6 yesterday and booked an appointment to have it done. Tint is must for me in the hot Florida sun. With a silver sunshade in the front window and the windows tinted, it makes a huge difference in the interior temp when it is parked outside all day in a parking lot.
