Glad you enjoyed it. I attended an F-body show last weekend in Maggie Valley, NC. A wonderful setting with over 100 Firebirds/ Camaros registered. I didn't see one person with a gun held to their heads requiring them to attend. I'm an older guy and I want to enjoy my remaining years after a tough career in law enforcement. I just thank the folks who run these shows and don't kneel to politics, where it's OK to protest but not OK to enjoy your life.
Love me some Fbods… I have owned more than I can count.
It's not selfishness nor am I anyone's personal spokesperson. How about a personal experience with this pandemic vs what you are reading? I am 60 and have an autoimmune disorder which put me in the high risk category. I am OCD about washing my hands and have been for years. I don't invade anyone's personal space because it drives me nuts when people invade mine because of my autoimmune disorder, so I've been social distancing for years. I also haven't worn a mask during this pandemic except where I am required to in order to enter a facility.
Personal experience with Covid19: In May my wife and I went to a beach on the Florida Panhandle for a long weekend. A very good friend of mine was there with his girlfriend. We had dinner with them on Friday, spent the day sitting on the beach together on Saturday, and went to dinner again with them on Saturday night. My buddy had been experiencing headaches that weekend, but we thought nothing of it because he had an accident while riding his Harley years ago that caused a concussion and he gets headaches from time to time. On Tuesday morning after that weekend my buddy called me, told me he was very sick, and was going to get tested. He texted me at noon and told me he had tested positive for Covid19. My wife and I went to our county health department drive through testing site that afternoon, got tested, and both of us came back negative. Neither my wife and I wore a mask around them that weekend and we respected each other's personal space.
Do either of you have any experience coming in contact with someone who tested positive, or are you just going to keep lecturing people who are doing everything they need to do to protect themselves and others?
The Governors of Florida and Texas took action against the bars because some renegade bar owners weren't following social distancing guidelines and allowing young people, who are now the group that is causing positive tests to rise, to congregate close to each other. Now all bar owners are paying the price for the idiocy of their competitors, and I can tell you from knowing a couple of those bar owners in Florida they are furious at the renegade bar owners. Same thing applies to the beaches in Miami - there are videos of kids saying they weren't going to follow the guidelines. It's time to stop punishing everyone. Most of us follow the guidelines, and we don't wear masks either. As I said in a post earlier, do what makes you comfortable and I'll do what makes me comfortable without endangering anyone.
Let's see . . . My uncle died of the coronavirus. We held his funeral on June 19th.
My wife is an RN who works for the VA. She doesn't work with virus patients directly, but she sees the sick and those who passed away every day. I was in the hospital earlier this year and trying to get my immune system stabilized. We have slept separately since March, just to make sure she doesn't bring something home with her. She leaves her work clothes in the garage, then showers. But will still don't sleep in the same bed. We wouldn't do that just because of what I heard on TV. And I will tell you, the statistics of people testing positive and the deaths are true. The news you hear of shortages of PPE, are true. She took two months off from work because there was a shortage in gowns and masks at the VA. I had to cut my hospital stay short because they wanted to limit who was in the hospital. I can't even get in there for follow up care. These are all facts. None of it is made up because of politics.
If you don't wear your mask, you are putting others in danger by passing the virus to others. Why do you and others not think of others? You just think about yourself. That's what the president does too, but his rational is all about being reelected. He cares nothing about anyone, not even his followers or family. The longer people don't wear a mask and practice social distancing, the longer the virus hangs around. Florida, Texas, and California has had huge rebounds in the virus. But many think it is fake news. I just shake my head in pity, and afraid for the health of everyone else.
I agree, but if you get sick don't use the hospital.
So you’re thinking is the ones that are in the hospitals caught it by chance out in public are different than others in public and don’t deserve to go if necessary. Got it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my mother on April 27th and my father on May 26th. Both tested negative for the Covid19 and they didn't wear masks in public.

The statistics are different from state to state, city to city, and are only rising in densely populated areas. We have two hospitals in my county. We have over 760,000 people in my county. One of the hospitals was prepared to put up an emergency medical unit just for Covid19 cases. It never happened so our Governor sent the money, PPE, etc.....to New York. In April these two hospitals started furloughing nurses and staff because people who would ordinarily be coming to the hospitals - and they needed to - were scared away because of the media hype about the virus. Our hospitals never went beyond 50% capacity. I know that because when my I found my mother dead in her home, my father had fallen trying to help her and couldn't get up. His kidneys were failing because he had been laying there for hours unable to get to a phone and he was in the hospital for almost a month in May before he died of renal failure. He tested negative twice for Covid19 while in the hospital.

You say you don't want to make this about politics, then you immediately start spouting the left's rhetoric. If you actually took the time to read what I wrote, you would see that I do think of others because of my age and autoimmune disorder. The science about the masks preventing the virus is all over the board. There is also science out there that shows how harmful masks can be to certain people, so you must just be thinking about yourself when you say everyone should wear a mask. I've already posted why Florida and Texas have spiked, and their Governors have handled it accordingly. It has nothing to do with everyone not wearing masks and everything to do with some bar owners not following social distancing guidelines. But let's ignore that and try to mask shame others - like the rest of the left.
You do what makes you comfortable and I'll do what makes me comfortable. That's our right. I don't dictate your rights and you don't dictate mine.
One of my coworkers tested positive. Two months later his roommate tested positive, and he was exposed to it yet again meaning I was put at risk a second time so yeah, I have personal experience with it.
Give it a break. Stay home and wear your mask. 27 yr F.D.N.Y vet. and the wife's a doc. We ALL have experienced the effects.

I too am one of those inconsiderate fellas I guess... 55 y/o have not worn a mask since the pandemic began.. I NEVER get sick... I cannot remember the last time I had the flu...? I practice social distancing... hand washing, etc... I don't go to bars, clubs, such... I do frequent occasional car shows a couple of times per month.
How did this thread get political ? There is a section for that you know. Plenty of Trump bashing there.... ( I'll remain Apolitical)
