...on passenger side and cold on driver side irrespective of the setting. First happened about 5 years ago and new head control unit resolved the issue. At the beginning of this summer I had the same issue again and replaced the head unit with a reconditioned one from Automotive Scientific as the original is no longer manufactured. AC then blew cold both sides but did not come on automatically; I had to manually turn it off and on for better performance. After about a month I had hot air on the passenger side again. The AC starts off cold but as soon as the engine has warmed up the hot air kicks in on the passenger side. Reset by disconnecting the battery works, but only for a while. Removed the head unit and returned to AS. They tested and said unit was fine. Reinstalled and after a few days same thing is happening. Also, with the recon unit the initial burst to cool the car at star-up no longer happens. 2005 with 83,000 miles.
Very helpful links. I have been searching for some time but never for the actuator! I hope mine is fixable through the glove box only.
I have been hearing a clicking sound intermittently from below the dash ever since I bought the car early in '07 - in summer and only after the interior has cooled down. And you need to turn or hit an undulation to 'rattle' the cage. Maybe that is the clicking referenced in one thread.
So I changed out the passenger side mode actuator door and had the battery disconnected for the 3 days it took to do the work. Job could have gone quicker but for some reason I got the actuator and not the mode actuator and had to return that causing a delay. However, since I fired the Vette back up again it is not detecting the fob though it locks/unlocks the doors and remembers my personal settings. On startup and stop I get the "No fobs detected" message and I have to insert the fob at the glove box to get it started or turned off. I changed out the fob battery but no different. Tonight I will disconnect and reconnect the car battery to see if that helps. Any ideas?
By the way, after I changed out the mode actuator behind the glove box, the AC issues remain. It blows cold but the automatic function blows only at one speed and only after turning the AC off and back on. Manual adjustment only works at one speed and air direction/flow cannot be manipulated between windscreen, center and feet. I'll be taking it to the dealer tomorrow in the hope a diagnostic provides clarity.
