"Check engine" error code 449
THANKS FOR THE INFO - - PROBLEM SOLVED WITH NEW SOLENOID..............................Today the yellow engine picture started showing on the dash of my 2009 C6 Vette. I was able to get a friend to use his electronic device to read the error code. The code is 449.
Can anyone tell me what this error code means? Can you tell me how to correct this situation or tell me where there is a video showing how to do the repair?

A quick Internet search came up with this result:
Vacuum leaks, damaged hoses or improper routing EVAP system
Check fuel cap, canister, valves or components
Faulty purge or vent solenoids
Check connector and wiring
Fuel saturated vapor canister
Failed EVAP vent solenoid

Evap canister vent valve is a fairly common failure and throws a P0449.
1) looks something like this
2) is at right rear wheel well. Not too hard to replace. Manual says to drop muffler but not required.
3) will likely also need the pigtail/adapter harness for old plug to new valve
4) do not confuse it with the evap purge solenoid.

recently changed my fuel vent solenoid, there is a post here with pics. the biggest pia was the getting to the spring type hose clamp, which i replaced with a screw type. check rock auto for the part w/harness less than $15. i had to loosen the muffler and slide it back to be able to get my hand up there. i did have to clear the codes after.

Thanks to all of you who have offered information on how to solve my problem. I did replace the solenoid, without having to move the muffler. Then I cleared the error display on the dash and so far all seems back to normal.
