I owned a C5, and now would like to step back in the water, but I'm at odds at what is the best year C6 to pick to look at. The C5 had it's best years of 2002, 03 and 04. What say ye of the C6 ? and does or is there a best year for a convertible ?
Are there any cars made in the last 40 or so years that the last ones in a generation aren’t as good or better than the first?
As stated, the 2012-13 are the best. Are they worth the premium for what most here would consider minor differences? That’s your choice. Are they so much better that you shouldn’t look at other years too? Absolutely not.

2008 - engine changed to LS3, steering improved, manual trans upgraded.
2009 added Bluetooth.
Following years further improvements made as others have stated but the biggest changes were in 2008
Usually buying the newest car you can afford is a good policy all else being equal.

You never listed your criteria for a C6. That would narrow down what year is the best.
Is it the motor (LS2,LS3)?
Model (Base, GS, Z06, ZR1)
HP?
Transmission (4-Speed or 6-Speed Auto; Manual)?
Features/Options?
Body Style (Narrow or Wide Body)?
As said, the best year is the last year. There are no bad years.
The best year is the year you can afford. I always say buy the year with the best option package that you like and color that is the newest and fits your budget.
