This might not be the correct place for this question but here goes, where is the best place to get insurance for my "new to me" 2011 grand sport Corvette? Suggestions would be appreciated
FWIW, the specialty collector type insurance was no cheaper for my car than it being on my regular old policy. It does however allow for a stated value, but I lose out on the flexibility to drove it however I want.
When I had a garage I had a stated value of $42k on my 08 vert through Safeco with a lower monthly rate than any of the specialty insurance companies, and no limitations on how much I could drive my car.
I have Allstate for everything depending on where you are located you can drop to 'Storage Mode' in winter.
That just drops the collision part off & they pro-rate your premium when due.
I have NCM on my GS and they were way cheaper than any other quote I got. But mine is a toy with the 6,000 mile per year option. Gotta decide how you're going to drive it first.

Just want to put this out there. Was in the insurance business for almost 40 years. One thing you need to be aware of is if you have a personal liability umbrella policy, the company you have that with will more than likely require you to have all of your vehicles with that company. Had a friend going to switch to one of the specialty companies mentioned on here and told his primary company about this and was told that his personal umbrella policy would not be renewed. And I am pretty sure that the specialty companies mentioned cannot provide you with the umbrella policy. Just food for thought. Hope this makes some sense.
Not true..All may cars I had dropped down to storage coverage every winter and the car wasn't paid off. Just cant drive it at all. I had allstate, statefarm and insure one. They notified the bank of my drop down coverage and no issues. They just stated if I drive it with out upping it again that it wasn't covered.
All the coverage is theft, fire, vandalism. If the roof caved in I had to use my home owners policy.
The biggest advantage of specialty car insurance is that it's "agreed value", which to be honest in the C6 world is not a huge deal to most... you might lose a couple thousand dollars in a worse case scenario going with your regular insurance carrier.
But if you own something like a restored chrome bumper C3 or a hot rod like a 32 Ford Roadster it's a huge deal.
Something else that many don't understand about specialty car insurance is that your premium is base to a large part on the agreed value. High agreed value translates to higher premiums, so it's to you benefit to accurately follow C6 pricing.
