If you have not figured it out yet, people are the most important thing in life. We are surrounded in this forum by people who simply are treasures. Admit it, our passion about our cars is passing at best.
(no shade on mustangs, btw) But we’ve got these relationships with people that clearly are eternal.

I had a fellow forum member call me this week and spend two hours with me on the phone.
He asked me to send him my contact info, I never expected him to call me. Never met him outside of the forum. He did a data dump on me that was simply incredible.
I am a mechanical engineer. I get all this stuff, but I don’t connect it the best in a practical way,..

We’ve got people that can connect the dots no matter what your fancy is with the hobby.

We’ve got people with garage queens and we’ve got people that drive them like they stole them.

These people are treasures to me. I’m going to do the best I can to pay it forward and to take what he and a host of other people have shared with me and help other people. He pointed out stuff I should have known, but I didn’t!

Pay it forward. Be humble. Always be learning. Isn’t this an awesome hobby?

Please let me know how I can help you if you’re in the Raleigh NC area!

Greg

Yes, it certainly is, and your comments will be well-received. Trying to look forward 30 years, I can't imagine how much passion there will be with all-electric cars, and total gov. intrusion into our driving habits (if we even "drive"). It would be sad, even tragic, to lose the enjoyment and knowledge we all gain today through our passion for cars. That passion has been part of our fiber for well over 100 years.

I’ve got a little notebook I carry around with me everywhere.
It’s sort of a journal for me.
I scribble out my goals for the day, and whenever I get some thing I need remember I write it down.
My normal day is half a page?
I wrote down eight pages of stuff talking to him.
What an awesome human being.

With few exceptions, the passion for the cars extends across generations, both of the people and the cars. Altho mine are a C-2 and a C-4, any Corvette of any generation provides a connection and commonality which we share, new to old, young driver to seniors. When we went on a road trip in the '92 back in 2012, the first night out we encountered a couple in a C-6. It immediately felt that we were among friends. Personally I would gladly own any year, from a '53 to a '21. And the stories of each owner are fascinating.

I might add that on that trip we did have a mechanical problem (later determined to be crud in the fuel pickup). A call to a friend in our next destination of Oklahoma brought a fellow Vette owner to our rescue. There are COUNTLESS similar stories of the unwritten "mutual assistance agreement" we share.

I am constantly surprised at the amount of traffic on here and for a model that has been out of production for 7-8 years now. Before I joined this forum I knew almost nothing that was specific to the C6 Corvette. Due to family and career I didn't even know what a LS3 was until my wife bought a SS Camaro in 2011. Whatever I do now know about the Corvette I owe mostly to this forum. The amount of good info shared on here is invaluable and I visit here almost daily hoping to pick up more tidbits.

i couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed above. i would also like to think, that if anyone was in need,
anyone from any forum, would lend a hand. while being part of the corvette family as resulted in, receiving a wealth of knowledge and information. even something that didn't apply directly to current situation, it may prove to be useful later on.
also as noted above, paying it forward is always a good thing.
hopefully, we'll have our toys for many more years ( fingers crossed ). their is a limited supply of resources, so at some point, the time will come when we'll have to crossover to the dark side ( electric ).
until then, get out and drive 'em!

You, Sir, exemplify the best characteristics of our Forum members. Those of us who have been lurking around this Forum for far longer than we care to admit, it has been a very rewarding experience to garner valuable and interesting knowledge through the various generations many of us have owned. And, it is individuals such as yourself who willingly and unabashedly offer your expertise that make owning and wrenching an enjoyable experience.
I believe our Corvette "world" is in good shape, and as some of us reach the time when we no longer drive our beloved cars, we can look back and recall solving problems and sharing camaraderie with individuals such as yourself. Thanks !
