Default 2007 LS2 engines ?

Is there anything odd or weak about a LS2 engine ? Do they hold up well or last long ? Just wondering.

Thank you !

Some people had oil consumption issues with the LS2s in the GTOs, other than that it's a stout engine as long as you maintain it and don't ignore abnormal noises.

Thank you, I watch a YouTube video from a outfit, G&S Corvettes in Florida, and the guy Lyle said the LS2 was a engine that would become unbalanced in later life and higher mileage and self destruct ? I had a LS1 in my 2003 and other than a light piston slap when ice cold, it was a great smooth running engine ? In the C5 the LS2 was in the ZO6 !

When you said they would get unbalanced, I believe you are talking about the balancer issue. They sometimes have to be replaced.

That’s more than likely what the guy was talking about but sometimes people can say some of the craziest things that make no sense.

I send him a email asking if balance issue was on cars that have had the factory damper replaced with aftermarket and loosing the factory balance. Have not heard back yet.

Here's my take. I'm going to have quite a bit of faith ECS when years ago I was going to have them build a forged engine when they told me they had been testing the limits and trying to blow up the LS2 and found it to be basically bullet proof. My guess is ECS is more experienced than this guy ever thought about being.

I had mine replaced in November, still has a slightly rough idle. I'm thinking after a 600 mile trip that might smooth out.

Can't believe everything you see on YouTube, yeah? Any moron can ( and does) post up videos with misinformed opinions or outright lies.

At 160k+ miles, the only issues I've had were with the factory harmonic balancer wobbling and oil leaks. Balancer was changed towards the end of my warranty period. The valve cover gaskets started leaking around 75k-100k miles. In the last 5k miles or so I had the front seal, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket changed, all leaking.

Where did you get the information about the LS3s damper needing more frequent replacement?

Mine has been strong with no issues, except the harming balancer. Love the LS2.
