Seriously? I don't know how that is going to affect the appearance. IMO, an engine call-out on a base model of any car is kinda weak. I agree that the color of the top was the wrong choice by the original buyer. Black would look much better, IMO. With a black top, black wheels would look wicked. Small fender protectors and a full-width rear spoiler would really help set it off. It is a fantastic color that lends itself toward black accessories.

[QUOTE I would avoid fender badges and I would not change the color of the top, no one can see it when it's down. .[/QUOTE]

He's in PA...the top isn't down that often. I like your other suggestions, and do feel the top should be black.

Black top, black rims and tinted windows are all it needs.

Another freebie... take a hair dryer and remove the giant ugly *** warning stickers from the visors. 15 minutes work really cleans up the interior.

I just purchased an unmolested 2006 MR vert last year, knowing I was going to make it my own. You will find a wealth of information and opinions for interior, exterior, and performance upgrades on this forum. I made a list of things I wanted to do or would consider doing based on my own ideas and info obtained from this forum. My list actually just got added to as I like the flags in the seat headrests that 1bdvet posted here. Doing a list and thinking through each mod has helped me determine end game for my car. Some things moved from the do list, to consider, to not gonna happen. Just the way I have gone about making it my own and enjoying the process. I think the biggest bang for the buck would be to replace the wheels as I am just not a fan and have the same ones as you. I am still trying to decide what I want, but rest assured it will not be black.

BTW the GM chiclets on the rear fenders were removed within 15 minutes of pulling the vette into the garage.

Yep I have visited and also talked with Bob. I like the C7 Z51 repro. What I have not determined is if I am going with chrome or buying the cheapest set of these I can and having them powder coasted a bronze or copper finish. My plan is to take some poster board and make a wheel outline and rattle can some different colors to see what I like best.

Yeah the badges weren't a good idea, but it was just that, an idea. I bought a ZR1 spoiler from C7 carbon, that was $250. and they paint it and ship to me, and I bought a ZR1 front splitter, both are designed to fit the Base C6, and yes, Ebay is an excellent place to buy some parts without incurring the famous "Corvette Tax". I guess after I had my 2003, that being taken is almost indicative being a Corvette owner. Every time the parts guy asks the Make, model year, your going to take a beating. And personally, dealing with Corvette vendors like Corvettemods or southern car parts is something I never going to do again. How ever, one thing that has happened, and I thought it was just me, but I recently bought a set of taillight seals from RPI, but they came from Sothern car parts, and I bought a set of sequential turn signals modules from RPI, but they came from West Coast Corvette ? But I think once the front splitter and spoiler are installed it will look significantly different. I also got a set of side ZR1 side skirts & mud flaps, I don't know if I'll install them till their painted, but they were cheap, $85.99 so it wasn't a big investment and I have them if I want to use them.

Thanks for all the great ideas !

Do you realize that factory performance vehicles have been coming from the factory with that " blacked out trash" for years and kids can't afford those vehicles.?

NOW YA' TALKIN', KILLI!! All off that stuff is fairly cheap, EZ to install, and will make a huge diff in appearance. I still the the color of the top is the biggest spoiler on your car. But, if you have the light colored interior, it probably looks better closeup. Black would still be my suggestion. I am usually a chrome wheel guy, but with a black top, gloss back wheels would be outstanding.

That’s why other options are available. You don’t have to understand.

Well I like to show you one of my first additions, it's the American Car Craft C6 battery cover. This was a real PITA, I bought it last November 2020 and I wanted to get it powder coated in Satin black. I called the company if it would go through the ovens OK, They said No Problem. Took it 30 miles to a good company In Trevose PA and they called me and asked if I was sure it could go through the powder-coating process OK ? I Called ACC and asked again if there would be any problem in Powder coating the cover, They said No Problem ! So I told the powder-coating company to go ahead, Of course it fell apart in the oven. So I told them to sandblast it again, and powder coat the pieces, which they did and I picked it up about a month later. 79.80 for the job. Then I called ACC again and asked if the unit could be put back together, they said go ahead and ship it back, I did. It cost 21.00 to ship in down to them in Florida. This time it only took 3 weeks and they said it was done, and of course, they needed 18.90 to ship it back to me, so I paid for the shipping and it came back perfect. So It cost me 209.95 for the cover, 79.80 for powder-coating, 21.00 to ship it back, 18.95 to return it to me and I just got done with it this morning. So what do you think ?

Honestly, I can't tell what to think without it being installed. There is no defined perception of height, width, etc., nor of how it looks in application. I will be very eager to see it installed. And, if it's a battery cover, why does it have oil specifications on it? Hate to be a downer, but I really don't get it.

WAY too much money on turning that thing black. All that is needed is a heatgun to heat up the metal and a quality rattle can of your favorite paint color. Heat, then spray. Works like a charm.

Well I have to admit, your right. But I was so invested in getting it done to my picky standards, I just soldiered on and got it done. It will look ( I think ) sharp once installed. I need to get a new battery but that is a battle in it's own right. My vette is Base convertible with the 3LT package, it's got cashmere, tow tone interior. I bought the car in October 30, had the HB changed and some other maintenance work done, but it's been in the garage since then, I'm getting cabin fever with the corona virus and planning on the mods I have decided on. On my 2003 ( which I really enjoyed, and regret selling badly ) the C5 battery cover was a simple plastic cover that took a second to put on or remove. Really miss the 2003 coupe.

But the current C6 is nicely optioned, and it only has 21K miles on it. The only thing it needs is a good long run on the interstate.
