We've all been pointing out the obvious......ICE and what fuels them aren't going away by 2035. It took from the mid-1800s to 1973 for ICE and petrol to replace steam, etc....as the main source of fuel for transportation.
GM can start making all EV vehicles now. Many have pointed out their problems, and that gives industries time to get them solved. GM still has 14 years to come back and say "it's obvious that the world isn't ready for EV, so we will continue to build _____________."
As they convert over to EV, many will buy them as short distance daily drivers and that's not going to cause petrol prices to rise much if at all. The most harmful action to inflate petrol prices in the last two weeks wasn't GM's announcement. It was the EO that shut down Keystone.

Kinda, but nah. GM will NOT be able to sell ICE cars in CA, and all the other blue states that follow their lead. By then, the marxist party will have instituted this as federal law, forcing all the red states to follow suit. So, IF GM wants to remain in bussiness they will sell EV cars here and ICE cars in all those countries that do not subscribe to the Paris Climate garbage. No, GM cannot just sell something that is outlawed. Take a look at what happened to the SS and ZL1 in CA and WA beginning 1/1/21, over the use of copper in their brake pads. So following along, CA has already outlawed ICE vehicles in CA for year 2035 and unless you believe that state is going to turn red between now and then, that ain't changing.

The 2035 California ban on ICE cars only applies to new cars, plus it was an EO by their Governor, who is a few signatures shy of getting thrown out of office by his constituents. The EO does not apply to used cars.

I thought post #25 was clear...NEW CARS, since GM does not sell used cars.
And so you know, signatures do not get the governor thrown out of office. Votes do. Those signatures ONLY get the recall placed on the ballot and put up for a statewide vote. There will be a LOT more people that vote than just signed the petition, but how many for recall vs remain in office is a big question. Recalls are rarely sucessful at that level.

GM dealers have used car lots.
As for their Governor, EOs can be overturned with a signature by whoever replaces the outgoing candidate. We've been seeing a lot of that lately.
GM does not own dealerships, they are a manufacturer that builds and sells new cars to independently owned and operated dealerships. Your original statement that I responded to was about GM chaning their mind within 14 years and deciding to continue to build (do they build used cars???) _________. GM does NOT manufacture used cars.
Clearly you don't understand bleeding heart liberals and the state of Commifornia. There will no overriding/retracting of the EO by a wouldbe bleeding heart liberal that replaces the Grusome; these clowns aren't into undoing stupid stuff, but into doing more stupid stuff than the previous clown. For that to happen, the state will need to elect a conservative as governor, and that ship ain't coming in before 2035. But you need not worry about that state because the Biden admin will be adopting the CA EO and forcing it out nationwide.
