Well, I've explained this a number of times. I've got 3 fobs programmed. All three operate everything - doors (lock / unlock), hatch, alarm, start. All buttons work. All proximity functions work. If you enter the car with the 3rd fob and then select either driver 1 or driver 2 from the button on the driver's door, then it's the same as if you entered the car with fob 1 or 2. All options are available, can be recalled, changed, and saved.
OP - just wondering. This new fob that you got. Is it an OEM fob, or one of these knockoffs that I see on eBay which are supposed to be compatible.
I will stand corrected !!!!!! .............Unless and until I can prove you wrong.....LOL

THE PEOPLE AT KEYLESSREMOTE SAID THE FOB SHOULD DO AS YOU SAID.I USED UP #4 SLOT.IF I GET ANOTHER ONE I WOULD HAVE TO USE THE LONG PROCEDURE OR GO TO GM.WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I RAN THE SHORT PROCEDURE AGAIN,USING THE FOB THAT DIDN'T FULLY PROGRAM. AND YES THIS IS A KNOCKOFF. ANYONE HAVE ANY TROUBLE DOING THE SHORT PROGRAM THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP.
It's not an OEM fob, and it's not working correctly (twice). That pretty much says it all. I doubt that any of their fobs will work. If you can get a refund, then I suggest you return it and get an OEM fob. Even if you can't get a refund, I'd still get an OEM fob. Life's too short to be chasing these kind of problems. I'm pretty sure at this point you'll need to do the long procedure because this 4th fob does partially work, so its ID is in the 4th memory slot. Without using a Tech2, the car will refuse to program any fob it already knows about.

I AGREE.AS LONG AS IT UNLOCKS THE DOORS AND STARTS THE CAR AND HAS A KEY TO THE TRUNK IT'S WAY AHEAD OF MY 64 GTO.
