My car started having issues with ‘no fob’ so I have been inserting the fob in the glovebox slot to start the car.
now it doesn’t always start first time even by doing this. Today I was there around 15 mins before it decided to start.
so far I have
-tried both fobs
-changed batteries
-tried to reprogramme the fob by doing the key in trunk method. This didn’t even come up with the reprogramme option on dash.
Reprogramming the fob won't help. Something in the car is interfering if you have new batteries in the fobs. Something in your pocket, something plugged into a car's electrical outlet.
Maybe the car just needs a new battery.
Also note that the new batteries you put in the fob may be weak and you just need to buy your fob batteries from someplace that sells lots of them, like Walmart.
Very often it is the car battery that needs to be replaced. In the old days a car would try to start with whatever battery voltage was available. Now, if the voltage is too low, the computer says F it. Have you checked your car's battery? How old is it? Etc?
Thanks.
the cars an 07 base.
the only newish things in the car are a Kenwood unit and led interior bulbs.
hopefully it’s not the Kenwood unit and it cost a fair bit, also bought the PAC RP4GM11 to connect it all up.

i bought a new battery around 6 months ago when I relocated it into the rear. Voltage seems ok and surely it wouldn’t start at all, where as now it either starts first time or after a few turns (with fob in glovebox)
Thanks.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never seen a aftermarket head unit cause electrical problems like you described. There are enough them built into the C6!
Thanks for all your replies.
After a few hours taking things apart, checking fuses, relays, car battery, fob battery, alternator, power cables, earth connections and disconnecting the Kenwood unit, I finally figured it out!!!
It’s the interior led lights I fitted. Now I’m not sure if it’s the footwell, mirror or puddle lights but if I give it a few minutes after entering the car and allow them to turn off then the car starts. If I try to start while the lights are still on I get ‘no fobs detected’.
Also if I switch the car off and the lights are on I get ‘ no fob run’ message. Again fine if lights are off.
It must be the case that some LED brands emit more RFI than others. Maybe the Kenwood emits some as well, so now the total noise interferes with the fob reception. I've got LEDs in all the cabin lights, but no Kenwood or fob problems.

Just as an FYI, I have an LED interior kit from VetteLights and a Kenwood DMX907S.
No issues.
Perhaps take out the LEDs (maybe leave in one) and try it to confirm?
Could be the brand of LEDs.
