New fob (or car) battery usually does the trick, but if that doesn't help, try also to check and clean all the contacts of the fob battery with the circuit board of the key; just be mindful of not touching the circuit with your bare hands

Mine had a lot of issues in that regard in the past: after I bought it I put a new battery in the car, new batteries in both the fobs, but it still would only detect them occasionally; had to use the keyhole in the boot and the slot in the glovebox a few times. Since cleaning the pins, things are definitely much better, even if the car is still not detecting the key every now and then

If you're talking about me, I doubt if any of those forum members who posted those 829 likes under my UserID would agree with you.

I tried to explain that GM decided to introduce the new rectangular fobs into the 2007 C6s. That's why the picture of the 2007 fobs was a rectangle. But for some reason that they didn't explain, they waited until the 2008 model year to do it. Didn't have time to change the owner's manuals, I guess.
