Well live and learn. Did an oil change on my 06 LS2, last time dealership changed it. Bought a K&N filter and it would not screw on even though according to AZone site and K&N site it was the right one. Went to O Reilly's and bought a Mobile 1 M1-107A (which is what their web site and Mobile 1 web site said was correct) and it would not go on either. Finally looked up the NAPA number on the filter that was on it and it said it was for a 2006 LS7. Brought the K&N back to AutoZone along with the NAPA filter that was on it. They cross referenced the NAPA filter to a Mobil 1 M1-13A. It was the correct one.
I wasn't questioning the brand. It was why does everything show the wrong filter for the LS2.
I ran into this same issue when I bought a bunch of filters on sale and had to return them. The Filter catalogue that I looked in did show a difference between the 2005-2006 LS2 filters and listed a different filter for the 2007 model year LS2. The difference being that the 05-06 filters were threaded imperial 13/16 -16 and the 2007 was metric 22mm X 1.5mm. Another difference is that the 05-06 LS2 filters didn't incorporate a filter bypass valve but the 2007 filter did.
Well, it is confusing. The owner's manual for an 06 calls for a P46, an 07, P48. I know I used to use the P46 in my 00 Camaro SS. The 08 goes to the P48, as well. Some of the GM parts houses list the same filter, for 05, 06 and 07. I wonder if some older Vettes may have had a newer block swapped in. Interesting. I use the Mobil 1-113 in my ZR1.

That is the same one I ended up using, The Mobil M1-113. The car had a lot of miles on it when i bought it so no telling what the previous owners did. Possibly block change or someone changed the filter adapter. Anyway at least now I know which filter I need next time.
Part GM Part Number AC Delco® Part Number
Engine Oil Filter 88984215 PF44
On the WIX site...
PF44 and PF46 both cross reference to 51042 which is specified for the 2005-2006 6.0L.
PF48 cross references to 57060 which is specified for the 2006-2007 7.0L (427ci).

Wow. I just bought a 2007 Vert last fall and changed the oil/filter before winter. I put a PF46 based on my minimal research. Now I question if there was an issue or not when I put it on. It seemed to go on properly. The pan had some oil on it when I jacked it up again to re-torqued the pan bolts after reading about them here. The drain plug this time had oil around it so I added more torque though I feel it shouldn't need that much. I also ordered more O-rings for the drain plug. Now I got go and see if it's leaking from the filter. I guess if it was the wrong one it wouldn't spin on without an issue.
