I actually really like the design of the factory lights too and prefer body-colored. To each their own. Nothing against the guys who love them - they look good for sure.
I don't love the body colored lights, but for me it's the DRL bar on the Morimoto. It just doesn't visually fit right to me.. Could be I've gotten used to the C6 lights after so many years of owning them, could be just a general boredom with the slapped on LED accent bars design trend that all the automakers do with very little design differences.
Either way, there's about a billion places that sell them, as Morimoto is a private label owned by the retrofit source, who has around 10 million distributors, and half the time TRS has them in their clearance section for less. If you really want to dive, TRS sources most of their head and taillights from a Chinese brand called Esuse, and you can often find them from alibaba, aliexpress, or any of the other Chinese markets direct from the manufacturer.
Hell, if you order 1000 sets they'll even customize the box, brand, and anything else you want.

I admit I wasn't a fan at first, specifically for the reason you mention, the "hockey stick". However, when I compare photos of my previous GS side by side that had the IOM body-colored lights, then black oem lights & then Morimotos, the car just looks much newer with the morimotos. The body-colored lights, at least on IOM were horrible-looking (I feel that way about most of the colors, but I don't/haven't own them). It's like your friend who still has the same haircut from 20 years ago that's long since been out of style.
I'm refurbishing a set of black oem lights now just to have in storage, trying to keep all the original parts of my car. Even the black ones, the problem is the giant egg yolk turn signal/drl. To me it just screems 20-year old design with it's waffle-pattern lens, even if you switch the amber bulb to an led .
If you're refurbishing lights, I'd swap the inter Al's out with more modern parts. It'd be fairly easy to put in some LED projectors for the low and high beam. I figure at that point it's not a big deal to replace that turn signal light with something else. Plenty of amber LED projectors out there, or you could just use acrylic and a diffuser to make the whole thing light up. Sky is the limit really if you have them open, haha.
I never realized how outdated the C6 headlights looked until recently. Been checking out the Morimotos and will probably buy a pair to install this spring. Just changing the lights really updates the entire front end, the C7 lights are a good design imo.
Had the Morimoto lights installed last year and have 0 regrets. While it’s nice to get the occasional “they look great” from other owners, as well as spectators at events, the bottom line is I like ‘em because they look good to me.
Next up in the queue is ghosted Oracle marker lights. I love the blended look of the lens. As far as the tail lights, I’m holding off. Not sure if they really make that big of a difference.
By the way...if you’re thinking about the Morimoto’s do yourself a favor and reach out to Cole at Vette Lights.
Love seeing people that want to "update" the look with the C7 inspired Morimotos, but keep their crappy OEM fogs. Consider sending off your fogs to be retrofitted with a projector (TL projector fits nicely), or spring for the matching Morimoto fogs to complete the "update".

A harness from @TheRadioFlyer and a set of switchback bulbs is the ticket.

It’s not often that I find myself agreeing with JimiJam, LOL, but in this case I must. The Morimoto fogs absolutely look great with the headlights. Had the car out early yesterday and took a good look at the nose after putting outgoing mail in the box. The “white” light really looks good with the headlights.

I’m one who doesn’t like the look of the Morimoto fogs, too much plastic around a smaller lens.
I had switch-backs in my GS with black OEM lights, helped as far as the egg yolk look, but the oversized lens for the turn signal coupled with its waffle-like pattern just makes it look dated.
Btw - I rarely run the fogs, but I’ve got led bulbs in them & they are a very nice compliment to the Morimoto head lights.

But how do y’all feel about my ultra violet fogs?
I got them to match my Audi S4

I'm not a huge fan of the aftermarket fogs available either, for basically the same reason. Big opening, lots plastic, little light.
I actually saw an led unit that would likely work really well for replacing your turn signal lens last night. I will have to see if I can find it again.
I'm retrofitting my TBSS with new LED projectors, a Bi-led main beam and a LED high beam. IMO, if you want to update your lights, this is the way to do it. Especially when you have a high beam locations already vs just a single high/low beam location.
Running stock housing with bright LEDs from VetteLights. Whole car is LED now. Don't usually run the fogs except when traversing the dragon to be better seen both front and rear with all the sport driving up there. Do have lamin-x tint covering. Pic of them turned off coming down Cherohala Skwy after playing with a 911...
Was an early adopter of the head / tail lights. Haven't looked closely at the Morimoto fogs, they were released a while after had already upgraded bulbs and added tint (after Morimoto heads / tails). Have been content with this setup, but will likely take a closer look at the new fog lights now that they're front of mind.

They might look good on the Base as your fog light opening is a little different shape, maybe a little smaller than the wide-body cars. I do wish I could open up the fogs and black out the inside tho, that would give them the smoked look to match the headlights but not diminish their light output.
