So tonight I decided to begin installing my conversion to LED interior lightbulb kit on my 2007 vert. I did the license plate lights and the trunk lights and the foot well lights and the map lights all with no issues whatsoever. Then came these miserable damn vanity lights on the visors. If you get one of these LED bulb kits DO NOT ATTEMP TO INSTALL THE VANITY LIGHT BULBS..... Unless of course you want to have bulbs busted off in the socket so that you get to order new visors. And that’s a whole Nother deal trying to get them damn visors out of there. The whole screwdriver thing does not work. Might as well grab hold of them and just rip them out of there and bust as much stuff that wants to break in order to get them out.
So now I have two destroyed sun visors, some really cute LED vanity light bulbs will never be used for anything, and two new mirrors and mirror mounting bushings on order. The vanity light LED conversion was a very bad idea.
🤬😡🤬😡🤯
That’s my fair warning to those of you considering LED vanity mirror lights. Don’t say you weren’t warned.😉
I played hell trying to do the exchange while the sun visors were in the car. They are so easy to pop out and work on them on the bench. You have to have a pick set which has multiple style pick ends (like at Harbor Freight) and just the patients to pop them out. I got so frustrated trying to do it while the visors were mounted I just made the decision to pop them out and it made it 100x easier!
I used a 56 piece Snap-on pick set and nothing worked. Plus I managed to destroy the visors trying to remove them from the car. (Which didn’t matter because when the vanity light bulbs are broke off on them they’re junk anyway) I would love somebody to make a good video of how to remove those visors because the instructions in my GM service manual didn’t help a bit.
There is something around here of a DIYer replacing his plain visor with a homelink visor...can't recall if it was just photos or a video. I'll do a quick search and link it back here if I find it.
See this ending badly, with DIC coming up with Fob not found, when he goes to start the car.
Hence RFI from the LEDs blocking the fob signal to the RCDLR.

is that something that happens? I have all of the bulbs installed except for the vanity lights and everything is great. Maybe I should break out my trusty old RF meter and see what I find.
In my business I install a lot of home automation and have had issues with smart meters interfering with certain garage door openers. That’s what I own the rf meter for. We used it when I switched the garage to all led lighting because my friends all claimed the radio would buzz afterwards and found no substantive change. Maybe I’ll check to see what it says inside the car with the top up and the lights on just for fun.
Either way, the led lights are a great upgrade. I love them. Too bad it’s almost impossible to get them installed in the vanity lights.😃

There is a member on here who covers visors in leather. I had mine done 4 years ago and had him replace the bulbs with LED’s while he was in there. No interference with electronics at all. PM me for his information.
I experienced the same as many and also screwed up my sunvisor and a new one with home link was $200. I also tried the dental tool with no luck, it is easier if you remove the sunvisor. Recently someone posted about using heat shrink tubing to remove the visor vanity bulbs , heat the tubing and once it cools the bulbs will pull right out.
I might try the heat shrink on one of my old visors just for fun. They’re junk now anyway. The video posted above regarding how to remove the visor is what I watched after my factory service manual procedure didn’t work.... mine did not go at all like in the video. That screw driver did nothing but turn the mounting bushing into plastic sawdust that looks like the termites have been chewing on it.
There is a post on here some where describing this solution that worked well for me : Carefully pry up the bottom of vanity mirror bezel, slide the mirror down, sockets can be removed and made accessible. slide the mirror back in place.
