More I dig... the more I find. Did the BOSE Nav system either have amps on the 10s or the 10s powered by the amp??? My 10s have the round "button" on the front of them and not the little amp like most I have seen.

It depends what year your car is. Originally the door woofers had their own built in amp. At some point it changed and the footwell amp powered all the speakers including the door woofers.

bayou: You hit upon the same issue I had. A lot of the earlier writeups had the older style bose door subs. These had separate amps on the sub itself. The newer one (some time in 2008 or 9? - I have a 2010, mine was a newer bose setup) had the single bose amp powering everything - all 5 speakers and 2 subs. Both are a pain in the *** to work with without removing the amp itself. To further complicate things, non-bose cars had a totally different setup (unamplified, stereo channel front and rear, IIRC? - dont quote me on the stereo rear) that used different speakers.

Played around with the bass and mid settings (as well as the settings on the compact Alpine sub) and might have found a happy medium until I go new HU....... Reading alot and looking at images makes me like the new HU route over the 4 channel amp add on route.....
So I did exactly that - ran just a HU (once, with bose amp - and then with bose amp removed and powered via HU power only) for a long time until I upgraded to more powerful speakers. My 2c is to have the RCA line out from the head unit ready to drop into speaker amps when you decide to upgrade again its $10 or so on amazon for a 2-3 ft section which will be the perfect length to drop into the bose amp location and will not require you to remove the radio a 2nd time. I'm probably at removing the radio 6-8 times.

Just to clarify, all C6's have a factory amp in the passenger footwell. So the non-Bose cars have an amp also.

oops, thanks for the correction. I guess they just have stereo front and rear instead of the mono fill rear? I know they dont share the same front speaker as the Bose setups..?

I think the rest is true. Bose systems have Bose specific speakers and amp, and the rear speakers are mono from my understanding.
