Default Should I be concerned?

After a cruise around the city (Ventura) I checked my temp gages & these are what read.
It seems a little high to me but I’m no expert. Anyone else get similar number from city driving?

No, those numbers are all okay for driving around town.

What he said...you can get the average water temp down about five degrees by removing the rail covers for free...

Thanks for the tip, does 5 degrees make a difference?

. How do you figure removing FRC’s will drop water temp ? Please explain.

I think that is high unless you are in a very hot region or stuck in traffic. 228 during normal driving around in city? I'd take a look at coolant level. Maybe test the coolant.

I’ll check the coolant level tomorrow morning, I’d like to note that I’ve been driving with the paddles a lot recently to hear the rev matching downshifts. Also just installed a Pedal Commander and have had it set to Sport lvl 2 not sure if this has any effect on this.

. Look again. The 228 is oil temp not coolant. Oil temp is usually 15 to 20 degrees above coolant temp. Perfectly normal.

On a 60 degree day at 75mph on the freeway, I was seeing 225-230 on the oil temp guage in 2011 grand sport automatic.

I drove in a couple of parades with my C6, and both the oil and coolant temp went higher than I was comfortable with. Once I left the parade and drove down the street towards home, everything dropped. it just needed air. BYW, I have since quit doing parades.

Spirited driving with paddles always raises temps because more often than not you are holding revs higher than the factory shift points. I think this is pretty normal. The only one that I would be a bit uncomfortable with would be the Trans Temp which would be easily solved with a cooler.

Interesting, I’d imagine GM engineered these cars to withstand high temperatures but I’m concerned if it’ll lower the life expectancy of the engine/tranny.

Been doing a lot of spirited driving recently after installing the PC. I’m curious if the temp’s would drop if I were to leave it in D or S without activating the paddles, leaving the engine’s RPM’s in coast majority of the drive.
Also is it worth investing in a cooler for the tranny or will the car operate for just as long without it?

thats hotter than i'd like to see personally.... i honestly never see those temps in florida during the summer being stuck in traffic....

to be safe i'd check your fan and fluids... maybe add some water wetter.....

edit: i'd still check, but my z06 oil temps never got that high... of course, i've got the dry sump with a cooler...

I was told to not get concerned until oil hits 240. My C6 Z51 runs 197-202 water temp and 220 Oil regularly.

I have temps like that ever since I've owned the car. Slightly higher when a put on a front plate.

J...228 was his oil temp. what coolant is he supposed to check for that???

His "coolant" temp was 217, which I still think is a bit high for driving in Ventura, unless he was in traffic some. But, it is not high enough to worry about.

Recently with everything opening back up in the county there’s been lots of traffic. Also I’ve been having fun listening the the downshifts on the back roads of Ventura. I’ll be leaving the car in S w/ OUT activating the paddles to see if temps will drop.
