I completely removed the black box, and just for grins pressed the Onstar button on my rear view mirror. The recorded voice still responded with the prompts. I guess the box contains navigational electronics and/or a sending/receiving antenna???

OK, so there's a fuse dedicated just for this that isn't also for the radio? If it's labeled in the fuse panel, I'll find it...
