Trash your Nav unit. That thing was outdated when new. It is 2021 - get a proper head unit with wireless Android Auto (and wireless CarPlay for the Sheeple), then add front and rear cameras since they are cheap and easy to do. It will even integrate into your factory microphone so no need to slap one of those tacky microphones somewhere like so many people here have done.

I agree with the others that have said dump the stock head unit. The factory Nav even with the latest update is not going to be anywhere close to as good as running Google Maps or Waze on a phone with AndroidAuto (or Carplay). Plus with a new headunit you can add backup camera and if you want front camera.
Thank you All for the info and suggestions.
I want to get past the first few payments before making upgrades like changing out the HU.
I do plan on going to one that includes bluetooth & hotspot support with front and rear cameras with Nav support.
Its amazing that my old Garmon thats about 20 years old I still get annual updates and features, but GM will bail on their customers after just a few years.

Yep. I upgraded one of my old C6's with the Pioneer AppRadio. Hands down it was one of the best modifications I had ever done.
Dump the stock HU and put in something where you don’t have to worry about Nav updates.
Agreed. One of the best things I did to mine. The Bose stereo was so dated it was a constant reminder that although the car was new to me, it was an old car. Had a new stereo put in with Android Auto, GPS, Bluetooth, handsfree calls/texts, and backup cam. Makes a huge difference in bringing the car to modern times, IMO.

To be fair, that GM system is probably even older and they have to distribute discs where as Garmin just pushes out files over the net. Also, Garmin has new customers who are supporting the map updates, GM does not. But the Ebay disc will get you semi up to date for very little money. It's entertaining when you drive on new roads and it gets confused.
PS I use my Garmin when I want competent NAV.

We find that WAZE works MUCH more accurately and timely than the nav. on the Vette or on my wife's Genesis. I mean we hear
LEO's ahead, truck next to highway, etc, - spot on and very clear enunciation (this would depend on the voice quality of the phone.
