Default Tires...C6 Base Model

Having issues finding replacement; tires for my 2007 Base Conv., seems no tire manufacture is making run flats in the designated sizes. Any thoughts????

Just switched from run flats on my 07 vert to Cooper zeons night and day difference in stiffness while driving. Lots quieter and better handling. I was on the fence about going away from the zp tires but I like the sound and handling improvements. They also have a treadwear warranty.

Ditch the run flat in favor of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Great tires, major improvement in terms of ride and performance. Get AAA to make up for the fact that there is no spare.

this could be an option if there was way to secure the spare kit..

Ditch the Run-Craps (tm) and you'll be much happier. Along with roadside service add a small compressor repair kit.

Something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Slime-Smart...m46890.l492860

This is becoming standard on many hot cars. Both my daughters GT 350 and the hot young stripper wife's Challenger came from the factory with similar kits.

Having a flat -- after the Corvette Gold show in Chicago and on a Sunday, and 150 mi from home......thank God I had the run flats, driving all the way home with some stops for air. Currently getting ready to replace them (they're 10 years old) and there are fewer choices now but they are still available. -- Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone,

I just purchased Michelin Plus 3's for my 2008 Z51, runflats. I love them, and love the fact that they are run flats. I would prefer not to have to deal with a flat, far from home.

Carry an inflator, screwdriver/pliers or both, and a plug kit. Faster than having to stop every few miles to inflate a tire.

I always have a M12 Milwaukee inflator in my car and the dynaplug kit. Makes plugging and inflating tires so easy.

Just for the record.... if you drive on a deflated run flat is usually destroys the tire and it must be replaced. Many manufacturers state 50 miles is the furthest you can safely drive on a deflated run flat. Run Flats ride rougher and are noisier than a comparable standard tire.... Run Flats might get you to the next town depending on where you live, but they don't eliminate the headaches. They are just a different kind of headache.

One other item to keep in mind, I believe all C6's have On Star. You can always active the system, sign-up and request road side assistance... anyhoo... food for thought...

Discount Tire shows both the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S run flats and the regular non-run flat 4S's in C6 base sizes available. They also offer next level grip in the Toyo R888R's, also available in C6 base size.

FYI, they do not. On Star did not become standard until 2008 or 2009 .... my 2007 does not have it (and I am very happy about that).

I agree with this 100%. A runflat can be a great tire but running non runflat tires I experienced better handling and smoother ride. I always carry a patch kit and an inflator just in case. It has saved me and many others on the road who I have helped many times.

Or keep three cans of Fix-A-Flat in the hatch and, if it happens, just roll around on a foam core instead of air!

The slime has been reformulated from the stuff you bought 20 years ago and will not harm the TPMS sensor. Or at least it will not harm the sensor if it's removed within a reasonable amount of time (couple of weeks). Removing the slime is simple as it is easily washed out with a garden hose when the tire is properly repaired.

All of which is partly why many manufacturers, including Ford and Chrysler, now sell new cars with a slime kit instead of a bulky spare or shitty run flats.

If you care to know more this is the kit that came standard in the hot young stripper wife's Challenger instead of a spare tire.

I like the Cooper Zeons for my Summer driving. And they are affordable enough to have a second set of Winter tires. For Replacing Michelins, I was thinking about Cooper G1s ... but these get terrible reviews. BFGoodrich All-Season is an American made tire, well-reviewed and economical.
