Coming back/price discussion
Finally after 12 long years, I'm back in the market for a corvette. Had a '77 & '01 and sold both many moons ago as our daughter was recently born and a two-seater just didn't make sense anymore.
I'm now looking at C6's and have a price range in my head of about 24k or less. I've seen a number that fit my range, however I'm curious as to how much Covid has affected prices? I'm assuming from the research that I've done, that like everything else, it has increased. If so, any signs of a correction any time soon? Not sure if I should jump on the first good deal (today's pricing) or wait it out until next spring?? Being in Wisconsin, I'd only have a couple of months before I'd store it if I bought now. Having said that, if anyone
has a C6 for sale in my neck of the woods, let's talk!
So, any advice would be great. Extremely excited to get back into the Corvette world!

I follow the price of certain Corvette's religiously... my 2 cents is Covid (and inflation) has increased the price of the C6 20-30% from pre-Covid days.
What was a $25k C6 Corvette is currently a $30k-$32.5k car.
Your mileage may vary.

I'm in Canada so i'm not certain on your pricing during Covid. I bought a 2008 Z06 with roughly 25000 miles. Paid $47000 canadian (37G your money) which I thought was decent. I searched and searched. I couldn't find one that had low miles for under 55-60. Mine was 2000miles away and I had to go get it. The market is tough and I think it'll be tough for at least another year.

I saw a 2006 for sale at C $29900 It has 67000 miles, with lexan top, Navigation, Bluetooth, etc. In my neck of the woods.
https://www.highqautosales.com/store...VETTE__C6.html
That would be approx US $23900
Hopefully, you can find a similar deal close to your vicinity.
Good Luck in your search.
Back in 2009, I flew to Akron OH to buy my C6 from a dealer in St. Mary's OH. The prices in Canada were crazy high, but they were below market in the US due to the economic downturn at that time. It was a smooth transaction, with all the paperwork in place for me to import it into Canada without any issues. I saved $10k by buying in the US rather than Canada on that particular circumstance.

rnjroz,
welcome back. What specifics would you look for in a C6?
What body style? Base, GS, etc.
Coupe/convertible?
color?
transmission?
I know with a budget of $24k you may be limited to an older year model or a newer one with higher mileage.
many way, best of luck to you

Here in Denver in 2018, there were Four in my price range: Blue for $17,000, Silver for $19,000, Black (low miles) for $25,000 and Red for $23,500. The blue one had electrical problems.
This Red one is a 2007 3LT Base with Z51 Brakes, Mag Ride and was very nice. It was originally $59,500 with several Add-Ons worth more than $10,000 at the time.
It's not a GS, not a Z06 ... but I REALLY LIKE IT and I'm very glad this is the one I picked. IMHO, even a simple, affordable C6 Corvette is very much a bargain, even now.
edit: Out the door incl. fees/tax/etc it was $25,600; so at 20% more today, this car is probly worth $30,000 or more? Cool.

Right now I don't see prices rebounding back down any time soon. I also don't see you getting the car you think you should for that money.
So if you find a car you like, I'd jump on it.

I just bought mine from Clintonville on Friday last for 27600. After searching for about a month and a half online, I went to see and drive the one I bought. You mention that you would have to store soon and may wait 'til spring, but that may work in your favor with the dealer (or at least it did for me) because they would rather you store than them and may knock a couple hundred off for that alone. IMHO any "correction" in the future will still leave the pricing higher than pre-covid. Either way Good Luck in your hunt and I hope you are enjoying your ride soon.

I am in a similar position, except this would be my first Vette. Prices are slowly coming down.Myself I am going to keep watching and wait as I am not willing to pay these inflated prices. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/price-...et-Corvette-d1

I just went through the same thing. I ended up finding an 08 Z51 manual base model with 3,572 miles on her. I paid $34,000 and only because the car seemed as new as could be. It still smelled new. The seller had it in a climate controlled garage but wanted a new C8 instead. Find the right car and the price won't matter.

In Sept 2019 I paid right at $35k for an '11 GS 3LT 6M w/ 5.5k miles. Now with almost 13k miles I wouldn't get it go for anything under $39k.
So yeah, prices suck for buyers right now but I'm not sure they'll come down anytime soon. I did see some truck prices have come down a little - and if/when the chip shortage is resolved there will be a ton of new trucks on lots and my F-150 value will more than likely plunge from where it's at now. I don't see that happening with Corvette's.

Thanks to everyone. I was curious as to the state of the market. I've seen a handful of cars in my area in my at my preferred price, but nothing that screams "that's a deal". i realize that I'm looking at an 06 or 07 most likely with a bit higher mileage. Not a deal breaker, but it will take some work on my part to find what I want.
I have a line on one that I'm interested in, but it's difficult to swallow knowing that price would have been considerably less a year ago. Either way, I'm still planning on rejoining the Corvette party, just don't know when my invitation will arrive!

Anyways, blame your government. They've caused massive inflation.

Op. Bought a 2009 6 speed 4lt with npp and mag ride vert about 6 weeks ago with 26k miles for 34.7k. I think I paid a lot for the car but it was hard to find cars that ticked all my boxes so I paid up. If your are patient and flexible on options, colors and mileage you will be able to get a better value today.

I dont think people all around the world realized the value and impact of international travel.
Its a boat load of money that is looking for somewhere else to be spent.
My prediction is that prices will remain high as long as the world struggles to restart travel again.

Maybe tonight...
Not sure if it will work out yet, but I'm looking at a fully loaded Arctic White '06 tonight. 75k miles and he's now asking 22,500. On paper, seems like a deal in this market. Wasn't originally looking at white, but I've seen a few and the white with what could be called a "blackout package" looks pretty damn cool. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
If it doesn't work out, I may hold out until next year. Obviously, I'd watch the market and see what pops up, but I'm hoping that the combination of being winter and prices stabilizing (yeah, it's a stretch) would result in some more options.

I have a 2005 base with all the option available at the time, 72k on the clock. They came back at just under 20k, Three weeks ago I tried
again and they came back at just under 15k . I'm not selling so it isn't much of a concern but this might be an indication that prices are settling down.
