Ok Guru’s, this morning this icon for the security system came on as I was driving and stayed on. I didn’t know what it was, looked in owners manual and found what it was for. It says if it comes on and stays on it needs service. I shut off my car, restarted and it never came back on. I’m leaving in morning for cross country Route 66 trip and wondering if there’s any adverse effects in way of it not letting car start or something in that order ? First, Rt66 was the best road trip I've done. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

For reasons unknown my Caddy which had a similar system, decided to immobilize the car by way of the theft deterrent system. The dealership dicked with it, reprogrammed both fobs and it was OK until the next morning, when it did it again. When the tow arrived the driver suggested to just see if it would start with the fob, and of course it did, and every other time thereafter. This technology seems prone to one time gremlins. And also marginal batteries. I'd get your battery checked out in any case. There are some stretches in the desert on Rt 66 where you'd rather not be stranded.
