Battery Tender

Battery Tender
I’m going to buy a battery tender for my C6 Corvette. What brand are you using? Also, can someone please post a picture of the best place to attach the negative cable to the vehicle chassis or engine block that is away from the battery.
Thank you in advance.

I use a 1.5 amp maintainer from Schumacher. Purchased at Walmart. Have had a pair of them for use with multiple vehicles for a few years now and they’ve worked flawlessly. On my C6, I just plug one into the front console accessory outlet. Had to purchase an extra cigarette type plug from Amazon for about $5 to do that, but has been much easier than lifting the hood and using the alligator clips.
Added note….the charging cord on the maintainer has a quick disconnect plug to allow you to easily switch between using the alligator clips or the cigarette plug adapter.

I use a battery tender Jr with the cigarette lighter plug, this way I don't have to worry about propping the hood up. I close the power cable in the drivers side door ,there is slot to route the battery tender cable there.

I have a Deltran Battery Tender Plus which I have used since 2009. I have it attached to the C6 from Dec - April each year, and use it daily in the summer to recharge my golf cart battery. With the reliablity and long usage of this tender, I would not buy any other brand.
I attach mine directly to the battery with the hood just sitting without being latched.
The tender came with a cable to hook up permantely to the side of the engine fuse box, with a quick disconnect connector to the tender, but never took the time to hook it up that way.

I also use a Deltran Battery Tender, I have the positive lead connected to the positive terminal of the under hood fuse box, and the negative lead connected to the ground post towards the front of the car along side of the fender, I routed the cable to the grill and zip tied it to the grill so I can plug it in/disconnect it without ever needing to open the hood or route cables through the door,

The only time I use it is in the winter months, so I don't need quick access. I bought one off of Amazon for like $30 and it works like a champ. No need for one of those $100+ units that you pay $$ for the Corvette logo.

I have 2 of the Deltran, works great.

I keep mine plugged in anytime the car is parked at home, so I want quick access.

Deltran is made in the USA and is high quality. I've had several for cars and cycles over the years without any issues. Come with alligator clips and permanent connection loops both using a quick disconnect to the charger.

Had a Battery Tender Plus for several years. It burned up when charging. I replaced it with a Ctek 3300, which I have been using for maybe 10 years now. I think the Ctek does a better job than the Battery Tender did.

I have two of these, one I have connected to my two ATV's, my camper battery, and my truck. The other one I have connected to my side x side, boat, tractor, and Firebird. then I have three of the Battery Tander Jr's, two of which are connected to my Harley's and one connected to my Vette. I believe some of the early Battery Tenders had some issues, but they've since resolved these issues, I haven't had any issues with any of mine either.

Just recently bought a Diehard maintainer off of Amazon. It has a digital readout which is useful and came with multiple clips, including an adapter for the cigarette lighter. I just plug it in there and run the cord thru the opening in the door. About 50 bucks delivered. Use it for my 05.

Post #11. I gave my direct experience with Battery Tender vs Ctek. I will add that I also have a Schumacher tender that I use at my rural property to maintain batteries on a tractor, riding mower, 4 wheeler, and trolling motor. I have had no issues with it for 3 years now.

I've got a CTEK 4.3 with the cigarette lighter adaptor that I use with mine. Been using it when I am not driving it for 10 days or so with no issues during the summer months. And from October to April full time when I store my C6 in an unheated pole barn here in northern MN with temps down to -40 for the last 9 years. I had a CTEK 3300 that I was using initially and now have that out at my farm on my Ranger.
