I just got my F14s delivered on Friday. I have an appointment to get them installed on Tuesday but Motorsports LA said to test fit first before mounting tires and the labels on boxes say "you mount it you own it". Fair enough.
I go to test fit today and I see the rears have a label on the offset 19x12 offset 36... I'm puzzled because I asked for 50 offset.
The fronts say 18x10 offset 1.75 which comes out to 44mm.. again, I asked for 40mm.
Does Forgestar use a weird offset calculator? Are they taking backspace or some other value into account?
I did test fit the rears and it looks great, won't stick out but I want to confirm the offset is truly 50 and not 36, otherwise I know the tire will rub the fender and break it.
Update: Motorsport LA is awesome and their customer service is fantastic. One of their reps called me and explained that the markings on the boxes are indications of the offset that the blanks started at. Then they're machined down to the appropriate dimensions.
I didn't find this info anywhere online, so hopefully it's helpful to others too. So the wheels are in fact the correct offsets

Thank you!!! Pleasure has been ours! That is correct! If it's a custom machined setup they will show the starting offset on the box sticker.
Just as long as the tires don't stick outside the upper section of the fenders, your ok ... or rub on the inner fender liners when you turn the steering wheel full turn.
On my Forgestar F14 wheels, I needed to install a 3mm spacer on the fronts because the calipers were just barely touching the wheel ... a 3mm spacer on each front wheel brought it out just enough to clear the GS brake calipers on the front.
My Front F14 Wheels: . 17x9.5 (+35mm offset)
My Rear F14 Wheels: . .18x11 .(+45mm offset)

Very interesting. I get that you could machine from a lower offset to a higher offset (+36 ---> +50 on the rear), but how would you go from +44 to +40 on the fronts? My understanding is that the lower the positive offset, the more the wheel sticks out. If it came as +44, how would you machine material off the wheel to make it stick out further?
The smaller the offset number, the further the wheel will stick out ... A +35mm offset will stick out further than a +45mm offset.
Use this calculator to figure out what offset you need on your car ... You first need to know the width of the stock wheels and the stock wheels offset ... Then you need to know what width aftermarket wheels you want to use ... Then just input various offsets in the calculator to see which offset will keep the aftermarket wheel from either sticking out too far or being pulled in too far. compared to what you had when using the stock wheels.

I get that but take a look at his specs. He said he had +44 on the box for the fronts and they machined to +40. Also said he had +36 on the box for the rears and they machined to +50. How can you go both ways, because I'm assuming you can take off material but not add to it?
I am confused as what he has going on ... All he can do is mount the new wheels on the car (without the tires) and compare with what the stock wheels vs the aftermarket wheels look like.
If the new wheels don't fit right, he is going to have to send them back.
I don't think machining the backs of the wheels is going to work (I have never heard of anyone ever doing that before).
I think he needs to have a long talk from whoever he bought the wheels from ... they either fit correctly or they don't
