Default Need help !

Hello everyone, I’ve been on the lookout for used c6 corvette grand sport .I’m kinda picky unfortunately lol but I want the ls3 motor and orange paint with low miles preferably under 30k miles .I found a orange c6 with 29k mikes and it was priced at 30k . I was planning on buying the car cash but hopefully can negotiate a deal to get it for around 25k cash .Do you think a c6 grand sport with 29k miles for 30000 is a good deal ??

30k for a C6 Grand Sport with those miles would be a great deal, unfortunately the pic you posted is a base car, not a wide body

Not a GS, but base model car.
Really, we need to see the glove box sticker to see the RPO codes to know what the base car comes with (may be a Z51 option car), but all the C6's are selling for at least 5K more than they should be if your using KBB as your base line.

As for any C6, before you even think about buying it, want to pull it's GM vehicle history report on the car to see what repairs where performed, carfax, and still have the car taken to a shop that you trust to do a pre purchase inspection on the car. Hence most repairs on a C6 are in the thousands of dollars if shop is doing the work, and the last thing you want to do is buy someone gleem trouble child.
So on that note, the glove box sticker will have the Vin number on it if you can post that, so one of the lads here can pull a carfax and GM service history report on the car to see where they stand to begin with. Its kind of phase one before you even go look at the car to begin with, then visual of the car, followed by car off to a shop you can trust for its PPE before you even talk price.

And again, the three checks are standard for buying a Vet in the first place, and if the seller balks on any of the three, walk away from the car since they are trying to hide something from you from the start. Hence history report via vin number may show the car as a lemon, carfax may show the car begin wrecked/salvage car, or changing too many hands way too many times in the last year(s) meaning the old owners are trying to walk away from a costly repair that the PPE might miss during that final inspection.

f you are stuck on that color I believe it was only a one or two year option. The LS3 came out in 08 and the Grand Sport came out in 10 so you are not going to find a C6 Grand Sport in that color unless it was repainted.

No GS. Check around a little more, it takes some patience but you can get some good pricing on C6's.

What's the year, it's not mentioned, and I agree with others it's not a Grand Sport, and remember cash always talks, it just how well you talk, and what they want to sell the car.

It has the Little square chickletts in front of the rear tires so it has to be pre Ls3.

Welcome to the forum and when you locate the right car, we know you will love it.

You should also spend time going through the C6 Corvettes offered for sale by forum members, so take a look through the below link. You will also be able to measure the current pricing for the C6 to give you a good idea on fair pricing.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...s-for-sale-98/

Good luck on your search and be sure to post often.

. Thanks , I’m aware it’s not a grand sport , the only problem with taking it to a trusted shop is that I live in Houston and the car is a hour away , but I go to look at the car this weekend I will be sure to send try guys the vin # so y’all can help me do a deeper inspection. The dealer told me over the phone that is was a 2 owner car . But even tho it’s a base do you still think 25-30 grand for the ls3 vette with 29k miles is a good deal ? The only thing is that it’s doesn’t have the see thru glass roof :/

my mistake it’s a base . Even for a base ls3 with only 29k miles is 25-30 k a good deal . When I go to check the car out I will send you guys the vin . The dealer told me over the phone that it was a 2 owner car

Again, need to see the Vin and RPO sticker in the glove box to see what options/option level the base model has in the first place (if it's a z51 option model or not). Also, get the Dot code numbers off the tires, to see just how old they are. The first two numbers in the code will be the week they where produced (up to 52 since there are 52 weeks in a year) and the last two numbers will be the year they where produced. It tires are older than 5 years old, then your looking at about $2k for new tires and TPMS sensors hit from the start; due to rubber getting hard, tires starting to go out of round, and batteries in the TPMS's maybe more than half life dead.

As for if you do have your heart set on a wide body GS, then would be looking for one of them to start with, in the colors you want inside and out , A6 or M6, F55 or not, as well as the interior option package you want on the car as well. No way I would get a 4lt option package since the leather dash had peeling problems that get spendy when it happens and need to be repaired, but would not pick up a C6 with anything less than a 3lt package instead. If base model, then the same, as well if its a Z51 option car as well.

So before you go look at vets, figure all the above out to start with, then start looking for that specific car. It may come down to a few flights and months of searching, but knowing what you want and getting it from the start, it a lot better than buying one without such, then selling it to buy another once you do find the one that does click all the boxes you wanted in the first place.

Also, keep in mind that its just another toy in the toy box (hard to be a DD if your area has hash winters), so if it means having to wait another few months to save up more money to buy a GS or Z06 if that is what you have your heart set on, or maybe even a year more if you want a ZR1 using your toy money funds to buy one out right, would go that route from the start.

According to this forum, they disappeared around 2010.
