So I have a 2005 that I'm having some major electrical problems with it's multiple various problems that I can't figure out. So the 1st I have my key fob programmed Sometimes it works perfectly fine sometimes it doesnt. Whether it works perfectly fine or not the buttons are always registered by the car so if I push the unlock button all the lights Flash and light up and the headlights come on like it's unlocked. Same with the lockbutton if I push it everything flashes once and shuts down. But despite everything being registered and flashing if I go up to the door it still doesn't open even though it shows all the lights on and that it's unlocked and if I push the trunk open button the lights will light up for the trunk button it won't pop and as I said this sometimes happens sometimes it doesn't. My next issue is the steering column module every time I get in the car it always starts up every single time but it'll sit there and say a steering column lock I've swapped out the steering columnr moduleWith 3 different modules that all came out of working e cars that had no issues every time I did it it still always came up with steering column lock. Car never has an issue driving or turning on despite this. My last issue is when I start the vehicle my left turn signal continuously flashes and it cycles my traction control off. After driving 25 30 minutes it will stop flashing and normal function is returned. I know rhe 05 was a headache but any and all help is appreciated.
Get a good scan tool and check all the codes in memory, including any communication errors. Also the BCM is a common point to those issues, so check that too. If you use an advanced scanner you can perform function tests.
Sounds like you may have separate issues. On the FOB, ensure you have a fresh and properly charged battery first. If problem remains check that you do not have any interference issues due to after market accessories or phone charger in the car. Then check all the relays under the passenger side floorboard. Make sure they are fully seated, etc. As for the column lock error, have you checked if any codes have been stored? If present, try clearing them and see if they return. Also trace the battery cables to ensure they are tight and all connections are okay. Use a volt meter to check continUity as well. New battery connectors may also not be seated correctly so make sure they are tight and making good connections with the battery. While you’re at it and have them disconnected, try holding them together for a few minutes and then reconnect (remember negative cable first off and last on). See if message on the DIC reappears after this step. If all these simple checks don’t fix the issue, PM Dano on this forum for the next, more involved trouble shooting steps.
