Happy to report that just a simple cleaning of the cap and filler neck where they join solved my issue. CEL went away and hasn't returned.

Often times the P0442 code is gas cap related....replace with an OEM cap, not an aftermarket cap

Well, after 2 months and 2000 miles the CEL light came back. 3/4 full on gas. I guess I will just clear the code from time to time.

FWIW, the ECM will only run the EVAP system test between 1/4-3/4 tank, so either keep it almost full or almost empty and the light will not come back.

I installed a new Stant Gas cap #10848 from Rock Auto. Over 25,000 miles later and still no code. Fits better than OEM.
