This is why people get their *** beat. I know 1 thing to be true "what goes around comes around". I've seen it take 10 years but it does for sure.
I was in stop and go traffic (accident) on the highway today in my 98 Z28 and a truck driver pulled up next to me and motioned for me to roll my window down. When I did he said "I really like your car" I said thank you. The only douche I ran across is the dirt bag that stole the grill from my Z28, but he will get his I'm sure.

A good old *** kicking goes a long way. Some just have it coming to them. Sorry to hear but it could have been worse.

Yes they can be very petty. Back in 95 went to one of the Louisiana casinos. I parked my C4 (89) in the parking garage, and as I got out three young men walking by made a nasty comment about people of my color driving a Vette. My lady friend said let go, so I keep my thoughts, comments to myself, and continued on into the casino. Came out later to leave, and discovered someone had keyed waist high from the driver's door to rear of my damn car. They made sure to let me know it was deliberate because the line they keyed in was large waves.

I guess a lot depends where you live, or go.

I try not to take my Z06 to places that I consider it to be vulnerable. Not just to intentional vandalism, but parking accidents.
Its sometimes a tough decision not to take it. But, I do use it whenever feasible. It's not my daily of course, and some people would say "its only a Vette", but to me its my dream car and its all relative. I treated my previous toy car the same way. I wouldn't park them downtown, nor anywhere there's a valet (not that any can drive standard these days).
OTOH, I have a neighbor who's leased a new 911 Turbo S or Huracan and driven them through winter, peppered with salt, paint chips and doesn't care. They're leased. And they sure look ratty when he returns them. I don't even know how he gets in with boots covered in slush and bulky coat...it seems so inconveneient to me and he's even gotten beached more than once.

One of my concerns is when I do track days with my car, I have an open trailer and I feel its a bit vulnerable in some hotel parking lots. Although I have zero concern leaving it at a track overnight, or at specific hotels even for a couple of days on the trailer while I tour around in my daily/tow vehicle.
