I stopped at the store on the way home from work on Wednesday to pick up some beer, and by the time I'd gotten back out to my car someone has poured a cup of coffee all over the front of my car. Are people really that freakin' petty?
One of the NSX guys here in LA had that happen while driving, he wasn't aggressive or anything just cruising and another car threw coffee at his car, but the dumbasses got karma when they were paying too much attention to the NSX and they crashed in to the car in front of them, it's on video:
Unfortunately some are, this is one example of why mine is only driven on fun drives and club cruises.
You're lucky it was only coffee, In the 80’s I had a new Mustang GT, one day I came out to my car after work and found that some jerk had drug a key along the entire left side.

My 68 442 got keyed in the parking lot when I was attending Tech School.
I have never experienced anything like that in any car I have owned. I will be honest my vette has only been left unattended in a parking lot 2 times. Mine is a fun car for cruises and not used for errands.

Sorry to hear, but I swear you have the worst luck. Perhaps you need a dash cam. It may not have helped in this situation, but perhaps the perp would have seen that you had a dash cam and thought twice.
Lot of people behave badly for no reason right up to the day they die. You had something they will never have. Since they couldn't have it, they tried to damage it.
Don't get too wound up about it, though initially wanting to kill them is okay. Be thankful for what you have, and that you are not like them, Ed.

I usually park at a distant spot in the parking lot when I am at the grocery store. I came out one day, and somebody had poured coffee on the left front fender of my freshly detailed car.

I have one at the house that I was just waiting on the hardwire harness to become available again. I'll be installing it sometime in the next couple of weeks. It would have picked up the movement at the front of my car as it has a motion sensor feature that powers the camera on when the car is off if movement is detected.

I just don't get this. I can't comprehend how someone can think that pouring coffee on someone's car is actually a good idea.
In the Philippines, the owner of a new car may have the local priest come by the house and 'Bless' the nose of the car with 'Holy Water' for good luck and safe driving in the future.
However, in your case:
1. You are not in the Philippines
2. I hardly doubt that the perpetrator was a priest
3. Coffee is not 'Holy Water'

Bummer. I lived in Tucson for ten years never had an issue. People have no respect for other people's things / cars / homes. hope you got it cleaned up with no damage.

It just sucks that the poor people that they ran into (and then proceeded to run into the people in front of them) got caught up in a ********'s actions.
I was in Austin and I wouldn't let a car in front of me; eventually they cut me off and stopped on the on ramp. The lady got out and threw her cup of soda on my car. Lucky for me I was in my daily driver Cavalier so I didn't get a ****.
I have never had anything like that happen to me in 50 years of driving cool cars. I leave my Vette everywhere. Just today it sat in a golf course parking lot for 4 hours. I do that twice a week. Hotel parking lots, parking garages. I even take mine to Home Depot.
When I lived in Phoenix this guy who drove a red Toyota MR2 with the plates “oh yeah” & parked in the same parking garage I did for work wrote all over my Hugger Orange Camaro SS with a grease pen.
We’d always end up coming off the freeway at about the same time each morning & he drove like a complete jackass. One morning he was tailgating me & the car in front of me slammed on their brakes to make a left from a non-turn lane. Well I guess he thought I brake-checked him or something, and that’s when I saw all the writing all over my car after work.
Couple days later I end up behind him on the freeway after work. Being young, and very ticked off about my car from a few days prior, I got right up on him and motioned for him to exit, which he did. He started yellin a bunch of smack from his window until I stepped out of my car & he realized I was easily twice his size. Then he pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at me with his hands shaking like he was having a seizure.
I quickly jumped back in my car & dialed 911. Wasn’t hard to spot him with with bright red car & “oh yeah” license plates. He got picked up a couple blocks away & funny, I never saw his car again in the parking garage.
Also taught me a valuable lesson that my cars, are just cars. You never know how crazy the next person is.
