I recently purchased a C7 Stingray. I looked around at different generation corvettes. II was not ready for the long wait and prices of the C8. The C7 is so much better in all aspects than the C6. The LT1 motor is an awesome engine To me the C6 looks too dated. Good luck what ever Corvette you buy..
another thing to factory is the "ease to mod" factor... if your a DIY guy and you want to mod the car, I personally would stick to a C6... Not saying the C7s arent just as awesome modded, but they come with a whole new basket of hurdles to do so. In my opinion (and im sure alot would disagree but) the C6 is really the last true DIY buildable Corvette. They took the simplicity out of the design when they went to the C7 platform and your average guy with average tools will have a much harder time working on it himself than he would with a c6. Not saying its impossible but its a whole other animal. Just some food for thought.
Another factor to consider is the interior size, if your a taller/bigger guy the C7 is a little bit of a tighter fit than the C6.
I agree with your assessment, since I have both. The C6 is more raw, yet more comfortable on road trips, whereas the C7 is more refined and somewhat interior restricted. I modded my C6 and the C7 will remain nearly stock.
IMO, from a pure aesthetics frame of reference, the C6 is a beautiful car when compared to the sharp angled C7 or the “I can’t afford a real Ferrari…” look of the C8. Yes, The C7 and C8 from a technical perspective are a vast improvement from the C6 but there is much more to consider in my opinion when making a choice. What car makes you feel special is what I would say, for me it was how I felt when driving the car. I just simply did not get the full enjoyment while driving (street and track) a C7 or a C8. The C7 felt a bit too refined, the auto rev match feature is a joke in my opinion, a true enthusiast knows how to heel-toe and does not need a "computer" to do it for them, but I get the reasoning. The C8, nice interior, lots of flash, but felt a bit boring especially since I enjoy a MT and I kept reaching for something that was no longer there.
As someone already mention there is absolutely nothing wrong if you want a “change”, there really is no definite “yes/no” C6 or C7 answer, it all boils down to a personal choice, your preference.
