Yes.When I got my 08Z I was astonished at how unsupportive the seats were. I was used to a race seat and didn't have that expectation, nor did I want to turn this car into a track car (again). I had previously driven a friend's C7Z, a very strange combination, base car but with the competition seats (which was supposedly not even available) and frankly, found them to still be pretty crappy compared to some Porsche options.
Initially, i planned to flip the seats in/out as prep for a track day, but that's really not practical...and almost went with some other nice aftermarket 'sport seats'. Like Speed V. I looked at Marrad too, but optioned out to look pretty and match my 3LZ two tone interior, would have come close to the Caravaggio price. Yah, they would have been lighter and lower, but would have lost all the OE type power/heat stuff. In the end, since I'm Canadian anyway, I coordinated a time window with John, brought my OE seats to him and drove back to pick them back up just 2 weeks later. Nicest thing I could have done to the car, as its something i enjoy each time I get in.
Are they as good as race buckets? No. But it makes a track day enjoyable and not an exercise in bracing and hanging on for dear life, while retaining street comfort and certainly not lowering the value of the car....if that's a consideration.
Thank you......but I would say that typically when people state the C5 and C6 are "dated", they mean it in a bad way. I personally think that MANY things in life today that are "dated" are actually better than what is considered "current". SO again,.....its all up to individual taste.....there is no definitive "better".....yet that is always what is suggested. I still am waiting for examples of what is "current" and better. So far, I have not seen it.
I own a 77 Corvette.....in my opinion the C3 is the best looking generation every built by Chevy. Is it "dated"......I really don't care.
Yeah, I do agree that when some say "dated", they mean it in a negative way. I know I am guilty of using the term in a negative way at times also. But definitely not everything that is dated is a bad thing. If I like something, I like it. I don't care about the age or a "label". I can still appreciate it for what it is. But there are those people that always want the latest and so called greatest. To them, anything older or dated is a negative. For me, somethings being "dated" is ok with me if I like it. I'll make up my own mind. And sometimes it's exactly what I am looking for. And like you said, being "dated" may also mean it's sometimes better.
I don't see something being Dated as a bad thing either. I would infact say that part of what makes the C6 so great is its simplicity. Doesn't have to be a negative term.
Also, the whole point of the thread is that I'm not even sure if the C6 falls into the being "dated' category. It seems to be holding up so far, imo. And like I mentioned earlier, the only thing that was a dead giveaway for its age, was the navigation head unit. And I removed that a long time ago.

Best of both worlds. Now all you need to do is get on the C8 Z06 waiting list.
dated is a matter of opinion. I personally felt the radio and headlights date the car. Fixed those and it's much more modern. I love my car, but the build quality from gm during this time was trash and it's evident in their entire lineup.

You must replace those T-3 headlights with HID/LED headlights.
I know, right? That's why I was sick soon after I sold my JSB ZR1 last year. But now I'm elated because I put another JSB C6 in the garage.
Wish I'd known you were selling it...I would have RACED over the five miles to your house and handed you a check. JSB C6 ZR1 with the chrome rims...the BEST looking Vette ever made, aka "Blue Devil".
If you look at many of the great sports car designs that have stood the test of time, they're generally curvy and have a great flow - much like the C6. Even the Ferrari 599 - which GM plagiarized almost to a T, is still a great-looking car.
This isn't meant as a slight toward Base C6s, but they do, imo look pretty dated. The wide-body C6s, however, still pass for new. I get asked all the time what year my car followed by disbelief that its 11 years old.

Yeah, I didn't even think to advertise it because it was a spur of the moment decision, and Frank at Frank's Vettes made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I transformed that car into my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, and I'm glad I did (really, the only thing that helped me sleep at night when the garage was missing my Vette) because that same truck would have cost me $20K more had I waited.

A corvette friend who recently bought a Ferrari Roma summed it up perfectly, saying the curvaceous lines are like those of a voluptuous woman…exuding sex appeal.😉
Add to that the rawness, well it’s a pretty darn good package. Oh, he’s Italian
Anyhow that’s part of what a car of this ilk should do, in
my opinion anyway.

Can you guess the year of this Ferrari 599 and Vipers? Answers below...but guess first and see how close you are. We're all car people here, so most will know...but to the non-car person on the street, they would most likely think they're new.
Many non-enthusiasts are blown away when I tell them my car is a 2009 that started production in 2005/6. From a design standpoint the C6 is pretty timeless, aside from the more plastic bits on the interior. A lot of work went into keeping the Corvette heritage with the C6.
I recently watched this documentary on the design and production of C6: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr-fGXBxUwI Worth a skim through if you haven't watched it. Can you imagine a C6 with pop up headlights?
Excellent video. Interesting what they discovered on the fuel pump assembly, a $0.10 part and 1/100 mm. If only they could've discovered the issue with the input elbow cracking at the same time and re-designed accordingly.
