Default Guess what

Just so everyone doesn’t think our cars are nothing but problems, let me present my dash. Every dial exactly where it needs to be. No lights on dash. And it’s been like this for the 5 years I’ve owned it. Presently has 53k miles on it.

That comment is absurd There are a limited number of problems common to the C6. They are due to poor design, or poor materials. However, they are no more serious than limited problems within everything from Audi's to Mercedes. Nobody will argue with you about the materials used in parts of the car, but to say that build and material quality is trash is ridiculous.

I have a Porsche Cayenne S...cost new about $90K. Very high quality materials and build. But, several common problems come up on these cars, with each of them costing between $4K and $10K to fix. I guess we could all drive Corollas, and not worry about much...

Congrats. I'll add mine at 114,000 miles and no dash lights. The only one I had was the airbag light, but fixed that myself instead of going to the dealer to have them do a bush fix.

My 07 with 17k ish on the odometer is the same. I love it, but it doesn't change the fact that I knew when I bought the car that I would most likely eventually be chasing down problems that shouldn't exist. The build and material quality from gm during this time is absolute trash.

Not interested in driving a corolla. I'll pay to play, but stand by my statement. It wasn't just the corvette. It was every model that rolled out from gm during that time. The only exception was my 06 GTO. While it had problems, it was a much better built car. It also wasn't built here. I've been a gm guy for the last 20 years and that won't change, but it seems like the quality control at their plants takes random extended vacations

To Iowa.....I have spent exactly $1405 on unexpected repairs to my, bought new, 07 with 97K.....90 bucks per year average. Don't group all GM cars in your criticism.

Stick shift?....unfortunately "rowing thru the gears" is a thing of the past.

I disagree. And some manufacturers are still making them. I have always loved it and always will. The one mistake I made in Vette ownership was buying a 2006 A6 after I had two manual cars before it. That didn't last long before I traded it for my 2008 Z06. There's just something Zen to me about it, and it's the only thing that makes me hesitant about the C8.

nothing like getting through a good round of shifting. hitting every gear just right. smooth engagement, hitting the RPM's just right. coming out of corner in just the right gear and hitting it!
Automatics have their places but, if given the choice, I'm going manual all of the way.
looks like we got off topic here. as i've noted in several previous posts, my run CEL's has been extensive, enough to cause me to consider continued ownership. it always seems to be one repair away from being done.
if i can get to maybe 6 months clean, maybe that'll reset my perspective. only time will tell. after the current A/C compressor replacement, the only issue remaining is, the fuel level sensor ( detailed in previous posts ).
for an estimated $1,200 to fix, I'll live with it. i just have wait about ten minutes after a refuel for the gauge to read correctly.

Not related to this thread, but how did you get the AFR to display on the DIC? Or is it just an opening message?

i just checked out their site. this app seems to offer the ability to view all the info stored in your car. 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and mile times & speed.
for me though, it's almost too much info but, it does seem to offer just about everything you need in monitoring your cars internals.

Kangaroo **** on the "quality" of the GTO lol.. Radius rods and rear coil spring replacement was standard operating procedure on every new GTO that came over on a slow boat from down under..also threads popping on head rests and an bunch of other **** too....(but them seats were nice). Pedders made a metric **** ton on parts that had to be replaced on the Holden GTO... I've had 6 Corvettes and the build quality is a lot better than my brand new shiny 2005 GTO six speed was. though I did enjoy it....It certainly was nothing special on quality..Especially compared to Corvette...which was made with non union Kentucky folks...

My 07 had to have the radio antennae connected on the first day I bought it (five minutes)....It was perfect for more than four years until I traded it for an 11...In fact my 07 will probably always be my favorite Corvette of six of them including a 2015 c7...

The DashLogic (now called DashControl) has the ability to display on your DIC anything that the car's PCM monitors (and thats a lot).

As far as AFR, you will also need a PLX Devices SM-AFR Wideband Air / Fuel Module. The device also includes a Bosch LSU 4.9 Wideband O2 Sensor.
