Reverse Grind
OK so I bought a 2008 Z06 today with 47,000 miles. I drove it all gears including reverse silky smooth. When I put a six speed manual in reverse I always go clutch in first second reverse smooth as butter. My buddy drives it goes straight from neutral to reverse and it grinds why is this? Thanks for any help!

If you go from neutral to reverse, the input shaft is still spinning, hence the grind. If you go from a forward gear, with the clutch in, the input shaft is not spinning. There are no synchros on reverse gear, so it will grind if the shaft is spinning. There is nothing wrong with your car.
