Default C6 z06 coilover conversion /leaf spring removal

Just found another mod on the z06 i bought a year ago!!!!! Coilover conversion with leaf spring removal..so ive been searching the threads for a detailed process, cost and benefits of removing the transverse leaf springs and installing coilovers but not finding it. Can anyone chime in or kindly point me to the relevant postings. Thanks in advance for the help! 👍🙃

Coilovers ran around $2500 the last time I priced them several years ago not counting installation costs. Benefits of doing this conversion are a reduced weight after the springs are removed, and the ability to adjust the coilovers on the fly if needed.

There isn't much if any weight savings, infact if i had to wager the coilovers may weight more than the springs. That being said your handling will improve significantly. Here's a bit of a break down if it helps.

Pros:
-Improved handling
-Adjustability
-Ability to apply different springs and spring rates
-Added stiffness/softness depending on how you set them up

Cons:
-Typically, wont ride as soft as stock even on full soft settings
-Require more upkeep than factory springs

There are 3 tiers of coilover quality/pricing

Entry Level: (wont link these because most aren't forum sponsors)
BC Racing- $1100-1200
Neomax Silvers- $1200-1300
Aldans- $1300-1500

Midgrade/higher performance (I'm honestly not sure which setup is better or really what the difference is to be hones)
LG Motorsports G2- $2600 LG C6 G2 Coilover Kit - LG Motorsports
LG Motorsports GT2-$2300 LG C6 GT2 Adjustable Coilovers - LG Motorsports

Top Teir: (these are the cream of the crop, think full on track car/race car quality)
PFADT: aFe Control PFADT Series Featherlight Single Adjustable Street/Track Coilover System | aFe POWER

You also have Viking but theirs are typically more drag race oriented and serve a more specific purpose.

The questions you should ask yourself if you're considering purchasing them would be, A) are you driving the car at or past its limits now, B) are you actively tracking the car, doing track days, HPDE's or some sort of motorsports that require more lateral grip, C) do you mind sacrificing ride comfort for performance. If yes to the last 3 questions, coilovers all the way. If no to most of them its money you could probably better spend elsewhere. If you're just looking to lower the car and none of the above, I would suggest adjusting on factory lower bolts or going with an aftermarket lowering bolt on the factory springs.

From my own personal experience with the LG G2s (and their matching swaybars) I can honestly tell you I have no regrets. It's the most dramatic and noticeable mod I have done to my car, short of maybe the cam installation. It's scary how much it increases the turn in and precision in the steering and your confidence in the cars ability to take corners. With that comes two things, having the nerve to do so, and having the training and seat time to do so. I'll be honest, I'm nowhere near having either to fully exercise what the car is capable of now. I'm learning, but I have a long way to go. I would say money well spent but it really all depends on your goals. Either way best of luck. I can speak from my own experience if you have any questions I can help with. I'm by no means an expert but I'll help if I can

My question is you've had the car for a year and just now noticed you already have them? Is that correct?
Or are you planning on doing this? Just a little confused, sorry if I'm misreading something..
