I'm curious to know what y'all are using for backup cameras. I have a Kenwood Excelon DMX709S that Id like to hook a camera into. I want something that is inconspicuous. So far the only thing I've found that I like is a camera Crux CUL-03 that is a lip mount camera.
If you have pictures of your installed camera as well that would be great My car is a 2008
I am happy with mine I have front and back Kenwood Excelon. This is my rear camera…..I like being able to just touch the screen to go from front to back.
I don't find a front camera useful, but after a year of ownership I definitely needed a rear camera. Installed in 1 hour this afternoon. Just a cheap amazon camera but it'll get the job done. Incredibly easy thanks to the info on this site.
Thanks for all the help folks! after seeing the couple of you that had the under lip mount back up cameras, I ordered one from Crutchfield for 50 bucks. should be here tomorrow, I'll drill the hole in the plastic near the trunk button and mount it there. I appreciate all the help!
The wireless back up cam I have owned for years now is from Costco. It's wireless and didn't cost much. Very very EZ install. It's a license plate frame that is solared powered and comes with a tiny monitor which is just right size. It's better than nothing.
The one Costco now sells has a 6 inch monitor which is too big.
I went with the Kenwood CMOS-230 to match the Kenwood head unit I installed at the same time. Camera came with 2 sided adhesive and holds very tight above the license plate just next to the trunk release button. Routing the wires on the convertible was a little time consuming to ensure that the wires are all clear of the roof mechanism, but fairly simple as compared with other Vette projects.
Just want to throw this out there, a lot of people don't know this is a thing but i love it, and would prefer it over a camera if i could only have one (I have both ofc)
Typical beeps the closer you get to something, adjustable angle. Rear view on the vette is always so limited im always worried about backing over a kid chasing a ball or hitting a curb. Just another check with audio in case your eyes are elsewhere.

sight is always more important. I got a backup camera because of the kids in the neighborhood. I want to see where I'm backing. I don't need a sound alert. I'd chose to lose my hearing over sight any day of the week. The eyes see what the ears don't hear.

This "senses" a larger area than the camera sees. A curb that might be too low for the camera to catch, or a car approaching from the right/left you get a beep before the image. Sometimes you need to watch your front end clearance turning out of really tight spot. Obviously use both but its a nice double check and really helps you gauge the distance better than just a video on your head unit.

this was true at one point. Today's camera's have 180 degree pictures and pick up potential obstacles long before a sensor. I can see 2 blocks down the road with a camera. In the process it captures a small portion of my rear bumper. Because of this I can back the car within less than an inch of something without worrying about hitting it. A backup camera is going to provide a visual.
