Hey all! Brand new here. I just inherited my dads 2011 Vette. Looking for ideas on any type of mods. My dad already added a Borla exhaust and a performance chip that I think gave him 60hp or so. I would like to get new floor mats and a remote start put on it to begin with. What do you guys recommend for that and anything else you think could be fun to add?
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the inheritance. However, be aware there's no such thing as a performance chip for C6 Corvettes. Someone who can measure the HP could probably tell you that.
Welcome! Congrats on the new Vette. Don’t even consider a remote start as an option. These cars have a lot of electronics for it’s time and would be a nightmare to fix if/when something goes wrong. Not to mention most places won’t install them if it’s a manual trans. Not sure what yours is. Also, it’s not possible to obtain 60hp gain from probably an axle back exhaust/tune. Maybe half that if you’re lucky.
As for mods, it really depends on your plans for the car and how much money you are willing to throw at it. Happy modding!
If the car is a base I'd start with Z51 swaybars and Bilstein shocks. If the car is a manual a skip shift bypass and C5 clutch spring are the best $30 you will ever spend on a car.
Also first thing to check is the date code on the tires to see when new ones will be required. Garage queen Corvettes often need new tires even though they have plenty of tread left.
Get the headers that produce the most hp, and are NOT stainless steel. Stainless produces heat, and you don't want more heat in the engine compartment. I can attest to what Belanger Custom Tri-Y Headers will do for hp increase and have much less heat sink than stainless as they are made out of aluminized steel, and Jet Hot Coated. They produced 54 hp on the dyno. Additionally, my car has an A & A S/C. These headers really let the car breathe. I had Belanger's on both of my Vipers. A 94 R/T 10 and my 2005 Commemorative Edition roadster. Ask anyone who owns a Viper.......MOST run Belanger's.....there is no substitute.
Congrats on your new acquisition and welcome to the forum. First of all, there are performance chips out there that advertise exactly what you describe, a 60 HP gain. Here is an example of what you may have https://www.thortonchiptuning.com/pr...formance-chip/ These types of products plug into the OBDII port under the dash (the diagnostic port), so if you know where to look, you can verify if it's there. I've no idea if it actually gives you any gains that you'd notice, but if it was that easy and gave you 60 HP for what they charge, everyone would get one.
A set of Lloyds mats is a nice interior upgrade. Available from a number of vendors. I bought a set from Custom Corvette Accessories https://www.corvettepartsandaccessor...ts/lloyd-mats? They're on sale now, and they are a forum vendor. Chip at CCA gives great customer service.
As far as performance upgrades, an LS3 powered C6 is a lot of car right out of the box. Why not get used to it as it is and then decide how and where you want to drive it? Then focus on those areas. I would say this, though. You can never have too much stopping power, so brake upgrades are always worth it. Just my .02 worth.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. Good to know about the chip. I am out of town but will check that and get some pics added on here. I love the idea of a new head unit. Going to look into that. Definitely going to get some of those new mats that are on sale. I’ll need to find someone I trust to do any of the other mods on engine

Congrats on inheriting a C6 Corvette. Is it a base or Grand Sport Coupe or Convertible, Z06 or ZR1 model? Manual or automatic Trans? If Base does it have FE1, Z51 or Magnetic Ride suspension? An aftermarket exhaust system will not add more than 5 hp and there is no chip upgrade on any C5, C6, C7 or C8 Corvette. A good tune by a well know tuner will give you a performance increase. Adding long tube headers will also benefit from a tune and ceramic coating in increasing HP and torque. There are suspension and brake upgrades depending on the model you have. You will not get 60HP from Long tubes, intake, exhaust and a tune.
I'd check the Crutchfield website to find a model with the features you want and then check with Best Buy to see if you can purchase and get it installed there. Looking at the site I saw that there was a Kewood unit that would work. You're probably looking at $1500 or so installed.
Here’s what a normally aspirated (NA) LS3 is capable of and I assume still be streetable. https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/parts/19432418.html
I’m not sure why I was even looking at it, but with the vette out for the winter, it’s dreaming time.
