Default Tail Light Security

When I pull trigger on Vette Lights Morimoto Tail Lights I would like to use Anti-Theft Screws, is anyone using them and which ones with a Link. I'm probably thinking Stainless Screws.
Thanks in Advance!

You are seriously worried about someone stealing your tail lights? If so, I’d say it’s time to move or keep your car in a garage.

Anti theft screws? Like a security torx?

Do you live in a bad enough area that people steal aftermarket taillights!?

LOL. I was thinking the same thing. I'd be more worried about my wheels.

Only thing I could think of it to remove one of the original tail light screws and go to the big box hardware stores and see if they have something.

Good luck.

As much as I agree with the other posts, if you do feel the need to secure the taillights, take the single torx fastener to Ace and find the same size but with the security torx. Should be able to get all 4 for under $20.

The only person those will stop is an honest person... not a thief... if he's walking around taking taillights he has a box of torx bits and probably has the one he needs to get them out. I get being cautious but its a pretty unlikely scenario.

You'll be better off not bothering. If someone is looking to steal taillights and you **** them off with special screws, they're very likely to vandalize your car just for the inconvenience.

Thieves want something and you make it hard to get then they will likely damage your car for spite.

I love in a small town biggest news is occasional drunk driver, but was thinking if parked at beach or some where with them things so easy and quick to remove I would keep honest people honest. Guess I'm just over thinking it and probably just oem screw myself.

My thoughts were if some *** stole one I have to buy whole set again. Lol

With the lights off, most thieves aren’t going to notice the difference between the stock lights and the Morimotos, besides I’ve never heard of any rampant tail light theft rings out there, I’d be more concerned of someone stealing the whole car itself.

A box cutter! Rubber bumper will not know what day it is if there are special bolts or they will just beak them

Had Glass tops on a 68-79 and they used to steal them if you were out for dinner or something. I put paddle lock on the release arms so they could not open . They would just stick the screw driver that they were using to pull the window to stick their arm in to pull the release arm down. And stick between the roof and the T frame and lift snapping the roofs 🤷‍♂️

Be more worried about the phone, wallet, firearm, or booze you leave in the car than the taillights. There's not enough of a market to make it in any way worth it for the thieves.

$6 from Harbor freight,

So if someone wants the tails lights bad enough, they going to get them, no mater what type security screws you have in place.

Bottom line, when not driving the car for the night, put car in locked garage or storage for out of site, out of mind,
Since common thief may strips its parts in place, while higher grade criminal, just going to come with a flat bed two truck to steal the entire car.

If you REALLLLLLLLY want to go thru the trouble of
buying security screws for the lights, Vette Lights sells them.

If you live in a small town there are probably few cars like yours. Even fewer chances of someone stealing parts from it let alone the taillights. If anything is being stolen it might be nice rims and tires. I live in a city of over 1million and don't worry much about theft. Maybe try to relax and enjoy the ride.

I grew up in Gary, Indiana, often referred to as the "arm pit" of the Nation. In my youth, I knew folks who were actual thieves and in general little hoodlums. If they wanted your tail lights and couldn't get them off, they would just take the whole car. I believe you are over thinking this, and understand you own a car most people want, but most can't afford. The car will ALWAYS be on some ones hit list...
