Any advice on a simple diy fix for a tonneau cover clipping the back window when putting the roof up? I had someone look at it a few years ago and they wanted $1,100 to fix it. I can’t see how it would be any more than a simple adjustment. Any info is appreciated. Thank you……
I brought mine to a guy that installs tops on classic cars and he tried his best to adjust the strap and made one also that is supposed to be pulling it towards back of seat to no avail it was a fail. I just make it a habit to reach behind and hold bottom forward while Cover clears. It is habit now.
Yep. Me too. I just reach behind my head with a finger and hold the top as the tonneau passes. It doesn’t always clip it in my 2012 but it did really bad in my 2010 so I ended up with a permanent habit. I do it all the time now without thinking about it.
I took it to dealer first was told they can’t fix as straps were discontinued, so tried myself as in video, failed for me, lastly took it to a restorer and he tried his best.
There’s someone selling these on EBay a little under $40. Shipped his version Worst case you are out $40 🤷♂️

Not that hard of a job if you have auto top just stop at 12:00 o’clock (straight up) wrap a couple of towels or a sheet to protect the top . then throw 2 long bungee cords to keep the back window folded up for the slack also the roof will start to weep down reach in the hardest part is removing the pop rivet use the old strap to protect the aluminum frame from getting scratched I used a big pair of side cutters (dykes) and just get aggressive with the pop rivet like you are trying to pull a nail. Not trying to cut the head off it will come even a small pair of Chanel locks . Then remove the bolt I used a box ratchet wrench not a lot of room so just take your time you now have the strap to help you from dropping the small bolt into LA LA land . Then install the new straps. If anyone is willing to pay the crazy price quoted up top swing buy I will do it for 1/2 there are 2 bolts I can not remember the head size but I will guess 10mm or 8mm 1 on each side with the same amount of rivets on each side. I wanted to replace the rivets with a self tapping bolt but I thought it might get in the way ???
That 1 day your phone rings while you’re putting up the top and the toneau cover taps the rear glass just right . Good luck trying to replace just the glass ? I would be curious if they sell just the glass. I’m sure you might be able to have it custom cut . But probably the whole top if you can find one that’s not sweaty looking 👀

Reason: Information I forgot
It seems this interference issue is just a C6 convertible thing; just live with it. I routinely reach back and hold the top, just out of habit, not a big deal.
When I think back to my younger days fumbling around with MG and Alpine tops, this is nothing.
