I was using a Natika camera for rear view, need to replace due to damaged wire.
I will have to remove the stereo to replace the camera wire.
For future ease of maint. I was thinking of using a 3 ft RCA extension cable to attach to the stereo and then plug camera rca into the extension wire
so if I ever need to replace camera again I will not have to remove stereo again
My camera came with an extension wire that I ran to the back of the car and plugged the wire coming off the camera into it. Are you sure your camera is not something similar? If I need to replace the camera, there is no need to remove the stereo head unit. Where exactly did you damage the wire for the camera? If it's near the camera, you should be able to locate a disconnect from an rca cable.
This is for a Nakita camera, what's included. You can see an extension wire included that should run from the head unit to the back of the car, most likely in the rear bumper area.
The wire was damaged on both sides of camera disconnect, a mouse I suspect.
so I will have to replace the main long wire to the stereo as well as the short wire and camera.
I really hate to pull the stereo again, think Ive done it twice, once wrecked the traction button and breaking the plastic grill is always possible
also I think the natika wire is propriatary where you could not plug another brand camera into the main natika camera main wire, not the rca that goes in the stereo, but the disconnect near the camera is not rca
looking for a easy way to replace or change brands of camera in future without pulling stereo,
I assume there is no way to cut/splice the main wire and tyhat I need to replace it by pulling stereo
You could use an extension like that to avoid pulling the radio. For now can't those wires be butt connector spliced on to? Then no need to pull the radio or am I reading that the wires behind the radio got chewed?
