GS Stance
I feel increasing wheel offset introduces unmeasurable risk. The C6 is an extremely powerful street machine. I am NOT comfortable adding wheel spacers and such. I have seen a few hotrods in my time loose a wheel off the hub (or maybe with the hub) on regular everyday streets. It's not a pretty sight.
One such sight messed up the fender but good on a souped-up beautifully restored older pickup truck. The wheel/tire obviously broke free from the axle in some fashion as it was positioned so. The owner was an old retired fellow, emotionally stressed, broken down just shy of a traffic light.
The other incident, I was sitting at a red light and saw a fancy wheel with tire, slowly roll through the intersection in front of me. The decked-out car was already going slow shaving blacktop.
In both incidents, it was a front tire, but the driver was driving straight. I suspect the increased wheel offset played a role.
A whole lot of engineering went into the C6 Corvette. If you want a wider stance, buy a Z06, GS, 427 Vert, or a ZR1. If a wide body isn't enough for you, adding spacers or greater offset wheels is rolling the dice with 400hp or more.....lots more with some performance mods I see here on the forum.
I understand the passion to "Get That Look Just Right", but feel it's not worth the risk.
