Default Front trim

Good morning everyone.
My 07 c6 has fading on the front trim (the windshield wiper arms and the plastic cowling). I think it's beyond trying to get the stuff that says it brings plastics back to life. I'm thinking about just taping it off and spraying it black.
Just seeing if anyone has any suggestions that they have done. If the same thing, any particular brand and color?

Thank you!

I've heard that careful heating with a heat gun can sometimes bring some black color back in plastics but have never tried myself. Might be a myth.

For the plastic you might want to take a look at Cerakote's trim restoration kit. it''s cheaper and easier than painting and just might work,

The wiper-blade arms are another story. For those I'd just sand 'em smooth and then finish. if you want to paint them, there are specialty paints I don't know of any specific brands, surface prep is everything. Also, be sure and use primer before you paint. Paint doesn't stick to metal at all. Primer will stick to the metal and then the paint will stick to the primer. Also consider adding a layer of clear coat. There are different grades, with some being also as good as factory. I'm not totally sure how the blades will look slathered with 3 layers of paint. If bad, consider electroplating, or getting replacements new or from the junk yard.

Good luck, and be sure to post your results so we can all admire. We're all car guys, and typically car guys love people that put in their own sweat equity and we love to see the results of their efforts.

SEM Trim Paint. This is the best product for refinishing exterior parts. has the factory satin look.

Thank you very much for your input. I have the Cerakote's headlight restoration kit, ill check out their plastic restoration kit too. Maybe I will try that, ill try to restore the plastic and then ill sand down the wiper arms and prime and paint. Like you said, if it looks stupid, ill just order new arms. I like fixing it myself if I can before I start ordering parts. Ill stick with the rustoleum brand for primer, paint and clear coat. Wont be able to do it this weekend so maybe next weekend and then ill post pics.

I have heard this and also seen it. Not sure if I'm going to do it on this though.

Try wiping it off with lacquer thinner on a rag. Damp not wet then wiping with a black trim product.

I've used the Cerakote black plastic restorer on several vehicles with great results (years ago) and have done the fender guards on my Corvette.

Funny I just did mine this am with meguiars ceramic trim restorer. It’s supposed to last longer and you have to do a few coats to really get it back to color. 303 is great stuff and if it is severely faded you may want to use that however you will have to keep applying now and then.
