Default Mufflers

Good morning all I recently purchased an all stock C6. I’m looking to give it a little sound kinda boring too quiet. What would you recommend that will sound good. I’d like to listen to music and or have a conversation while driving. The Borla touring is the sound I like but the living is steep $1,659 for a pair for their over the axle package is there anything out there less expensive that’s comparable.
Thank you for all your thoughts and recommendations

Corvette tax is real when it comes to our exhausts, and sound is subjective. I enjoy my Corsas, but they're around 2 grand for the kit. Also fitment is key. You will get what you pay for if you go to cheap.

Look for a set of take-offs from another Corvette. You want the Bi-mode or active exhausts. The axle back pipes are what you are after. And 2009 and after they changed the routing over the axle. Don't know what year you have, but just know they are different in 2009 and later. And ZO6 exhausts won't work if you have a base model, pipes are 3" Dia as opposed to base model 2.5" Dia. Also you need the controller for the Bi-mode function to work properly. It gets expensive, but you get the best of both worlds quite when you to cruise and loud when yo want to make some noise.

It has nothing to do with “corvette tax”
It has all to do with just the price of product. All name brand exhausts are expensive. ESP when you have 2 mufflers.
I wouldn’t bet on paying much less than $1200-1300 on anything new.

You could do the "muffler mod" to your stock exhaust. Its pretty mild. Actually, without headers i personally find most of the exhausts people run on C6s to be pretty mild. I have a Borla ATAK and feel it is too quiet. I may sell it and try Bill Boat Bullets. To each their own...

SLP with be your cheapest "quality" system other than the dual mode OEM Corvette system.......The loudmouth SLP is light weight and loud as well....they run 750 to 900 ish online....

I went with Corsa but I didn't want any drone and the tips they supply are art as opposed to some other systems...but yes they are pricey...

Good luck...

1200-1300 would be plenty fair in my book. The main names in muffler systems are charging over 2 grand for axle backs for these cars. That's what i mean by corvette tax

Corsa is overpriced for their quality level. They really are not as nice as people make them out to be.

I get what you are saying and I am telling you it’s not the Corvette tax. Other dual exhaust cars cost about equally as much.
It’s just what stuff costs because people pay it. I will never understand why Corsa is soo damn expensive. They are not even really that nice at all.

After having those, Flowmaster, Borla, Bassani and others I can tell you they are as nice as people say...and sound as good to boot...but they are too high...as they all are now...

Any experience w Bullets? I have ATAK now without headers and feel they are too quiet.
I also had Corsa Sports and thought they sounded like a sewing machine... 😂

I have not had any experience with the BB bullets...The loudmouths are pretty loud imo...but its been a few years since I've heard them...and they drone for sure...

Someone will chime in on the BB's....Good luck on your search.

Corsa are certainly not any better quality than any of those brands you mentioned.
I have seen $200 mufflers from China that looked better quality than Corsa.
For the price or Corsa, I expect precision! No tack welded tips on $2k mufflers.
Sound is subjective. I really don’t think they sound that great either if I am to be honest. I prefer a v8 to sound like a v8. Esp for a pushrod v8.

If you're looking for something on the tamer side noise wise check out Nxt Step Performance. I installed a set about a year ago and have been happy with both the build quality and appearance, and no drone on my LS2 manual. Paid about $800 for them.

All you have to do is say you order overpaying for certain brand names and enjoy your pushrod to sound like a raspy v6
