I appreciate all the replies about windshield tint. But I was thinking if the carbon tint is so good at heat reflection can you "wrap" exterior parts of a car with it? Has it ever been done?
Where would you come up with an idea like wrapping exterior parts in tint exactly?
I can’t tell if this is a real post, or you are trolling
Yeah, I don't know if this is a real post or not either. To the OP, they have PPF (paint protective film) for exterior parts and window tint is for windows. I believe PPF also comes in some different shades of tint, not only clear. I'm not sure if window tint is flexible enough to use on things other than windows. But there are the correct products to meet your needs if you are serious.
it’s about as practical is putting 26” wheels on a Corvette.
That being said there is no value in heat reflection for a hood anyway, but if there was, window tint would not be the solution to apply to your hood.
Let's think about it logically. A motor is going to run circa 200 degrees, give or take. The surface of the sun by contrast is 10,000F. So OBVIOUSLY we want to keep that heat from the sun out, ensuring our motor stays cooler than the 10,000F sun.
Lol. I mean, that's the only thing I can think the OP is thinking of. I wouldn't say it's "scientifically accurate" in the strictest sense, but ya know... People will believe anything these days.
All joking aside, I guarantee that at some point this is gonna be a buzz in PPF. They'll sell it as ceramic PPF resisting UV better or something like that. I predict graphene infused PPFs at some point too, because slap ceramic or graphene into a product sold for cars and by God, people will buy it.
