Weird brake light problem
Hello,
i have recently bought a 2008 C6 z06 and i have discovered a problem with the brake lights.
when u press the brake pedal the lights won’t work and when u let go of the pedal it sometimes works, but when it works they just stay on for s while even while not pressing the brake pedal and then they just turn off out of nowhere….
the BCM doesn’t give any fault codes.
also only the middle 2 lights and the third brake light turns on when it works…? The outer 2 just wont turn on when pressing the brake pedal, but the indicators do work.
i hope someone can explain what is going on.

Try cleaning the connections of the 2 blue connectors next to the BCM. I had a similar problem a few years ago of when I pressed the brake pedal, the lights went off, but releasing the brake pedal had the brake lights on continuously. Cleaning the connectors fixed the problem instantly.

If you are able to read BCM DTC’s I’m assuming you have a factory level or equivalent aftermarket scan tool…look at your brake light inputs and see what they read on your scan tool as you apply and release the brakes…it may be under “chassis data” in your BCM menu.
