New targa
Just wasn't a big fan of the transparent one for several reasons. One, my personal opinion is it takes away from the streamlined look of the car. Two, it lets in too much heat on a hot summer day. And three, it only takes a minute to take the top off and stow it in the cargo area if I want the open-air experience.
Looking at the market, I figured I could get a good price for my transparent one selling it since it was in immaculate condition.
So I've been keeping my eyes open for a used one in mint condition, accepting the fact I would probably have to get it repainted.
Finally about a month ago I found one on Facebook marketplace that looked to be just what I was looking for at $200. The interior was perfect and The exterior was white that had been vinyl wrapped black. The seller told me that the top under the vinyl wrap was in excellent condition. This was significantly less than most of the other ones I had been looking at.
Got it home and took off the vinyl wrap and the paint was in great condition, just a couple scuffs that didn't even go through the clear coat. The interior and the weather stripping was in great shape except the screws that hold on the side weatherstripping rails were stripped, and I had to use an ez-out on a few of them.
I took it to my favorite body shop and they did a great job of repainting it blade silver metallic for $428. Paint match was spot on.
Sold my transparent one for $630. Throw in the $2 I spent for stainless steel screws to replace the stripped ones, and I exactly broke even on the deal. (Not counting the time spent getting it all put together)
I do think the car looks a lot better now, more "silver bullet-ish"
