TPMS relearn doesn’t work
The TPMS relearn has been incredibly annoying, and it’s not working. I have tried 3 different devices:
- the Amazon basic unit
- an Autel at a local tire shop
- the ATEQ VT37 recommended by Tire Rack
The last one allows me to check if the sensors are even alive and I can confirm they all work as expected.
When I put the car in relearn mode (accessory mode and then hold lock + unlock until the honk), it’s completely random. Sometimes just the first wheel (front driver) triggers the hook. Sometimes the second one too. One time the second wheel (front passenger) triggered a honk but not the first, and the third worked too (rear passenger) but not the fourth (rear driver). And many times, it just doesn’t honk at all. Nothing.
It drives me nuts. I’m seriously losing my mind on it because I know the sensors are working and randomly the car will manage to recognize one or two at a time.
Has anyone ever dealt with that? And hopefully has a recommendation?
Thanks in advance!

The RCDLR has an antenna in the glove box, the left and right hand side of the car about the gas door location, and one on the back of the cubby on the back wall under the cubby. Some on the after market Leds, and other device like after market radio's put out enough RF noise, that it can block the TPMS signals.
Hence if you can read the TPMS with the scan tool and trigger them, know for sure that TPMS are the correct model for the year of of the vet, then something is blocking the TPMS signals from the RCDLR antenna's picking up there signal so the RCDLR can register/lean them.

My GOD. I put the car in relearn mode, turned off the aftermarket head unit, opened the glove box, shut the doors to not have the LED lights on…
AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY AT THE FIRST TRY.
Man, you have no idea how happy this makes. It’s been weeks I’ve been tinkering with that. Honestly it needs to be a sticky, I can’t be the only one struggling with this.
Thank you, really!!!

After market radios putting out RF noise to cause problem with RCDLR is not new, and in some case, you have to wrap the head unit with tin foil, to build a Faraday shield around it to block the electromagnetic field that is putting out/blocking the Fob/Tpms signals.
