Can I install long tube 1-7/8 headers with the factory spark plug wires?

You can but you may want to add some heat protection to them.

My tuner said the socks are not necessary but they are cheap so why not. But he did say to buy MSD wires because you can bend the boot and it will stay in that position. So you can make sure they are positioned nicely and not touching any headers

The answer - perhaps
As mentioned, it is clearance and preventing wire burns.
Heat socks are a great recommendation.
The OEM plug wires quality is good.
