That was our experience with the Saturn Sky that we sold to buy our Corvette. It had a manual transmission and it was a lot of fun. That experience had me feeling owning a C6 with either transmission would be fine.

During our C6 shopping experience in 2023/2024, Grand Sport convertibles with automatics were so much more abundant. Given our very specific short-list of requirments (choice of transmission being flexible) we ended up with an automatic.

All this discussion about tuning the automatic has me scratching my head. I would have to drive a C6 with a "tuned" automatic to grasp the benefit. All I know is that our 2013 GS paddle-shift automatic is absolutely fantastic in stock fashion for the way we drive. We don't miss what we don't know. Ignorance is bliss.

Ron, trust me that a trans tune will make it feel like a whole diff car.
Much sharper/harder shifts at the commanded shift points.
Just gotta make sure you want those hard shifts like that though.

You say that like it’s a bad thing. lol.
If you are trying to insinuate that Corvette >Porsche, you are fooling yourself.

I’m a hardcore GM guy, I wouldn’t consider myself a brand loyalist though. That being said drive any PDK turbo model 911 built since 2012 and you’ll never look at a Vette the same way again lol.

Porsche is pretty much the unrenowned GOAT.
I can assure you no Porsche owner wished they had a Vette, but quite a few Vette owners wish they had a Porsche.

i love my vette and this is my second one but I agree. I mean my vette to me is just dumb American muscle and nothing wrong with that but comparing a Porsche with a PDK to any vette is just ignorance.

You guys can all have your Porsche, I can afford my Corvette. And (imo) my Vette looks better than a 911 (992, 996, whatever). Hell, the basic design hasn't changed in 60 years! Sure the trans in a Porsche shifts great, but you're paying for it too. I have $50k in my car and it looks great, performs very well I don't have to point my nose up at Corvette drivers. Go ahead, have your Porsche.

My point exactly! We may not like the sharper/harder shifts for the exclusive top-down, tunes-up, joy riding we do.

Yea if you aren’t about that racing life, I probably wouldn’t do it. If you just like to enjoy top down cruises, keep it stock!

You seem upset… a Porsche would probably help that

hahahaha! A Porsche helps everything but the wallet!
I was going to make a joke about wallet depth causing the pass of judgement, but I refrained. He walked right into What I was about to say though.

PS: 991.2 Carrera S in PDK are out there for low $50’s. Just saying…..

Choice? You're asking here for da choice? 😊... you best make that decision for yourself... Don't be asking without a little driving experience Bunkie. 🤨 Do this.. Drive drive drive and we mean drive both... then ask yourself for da answer... Could take awhile, being you don't know much about da clutch. You'll never have to answer that question again... Cool eh

I am right at that tipping point of just buying one. I continue dumping money into my Vette, but may just keep it and still get a 911

I can fix just about anything that goes wrong with my Vette. It's only 500 at the wheels. Pretty simple build that my son and I did at my farm shop. Have no desire to own a car that's more sophisticated than my mechanical abilities. I like to do my own shift work too. To each his own, I guess.

Can you have them program the harder shifts in sport mode, and then in normal drive mode, have it shift normally?

to a degree yes but certain tables you have to modify will effect both modes.

Not upset at all. Just sayin, I don’t want a Porsche. I don’t like em, I think they’re ugly. Yeah, they may drive great but I gotta look at it… and I don’t want to.
