Default Learning mode issue.

Currently trying to reprogram my spare key because it doesn’t work with the car. I’m doing the trunk and glove box windows down etc. the thing is after trying multiple times or turning the key in the trunk area the leaning mode message doesn’t appear on the DIC, anything I could do to get it to work? Or am I cooked and I need to buy a new key fob to just add a whole new key. Which doesn’t make much sense …. Since it’s not even letting me go into the learning mode. Any help please!

Are you sure you were turning the key completely?

Yes, I was messing with is a lot I was out there 30 mins just trying to get it to work. Only thing that would happen is that occasionally the dash would light up but not the DIC just the cluster would turn on and my footwell lights.

I literally just went out to try it again.. and I was making sure to FULLY push the key. Not that I never did turn it completely but I did it with some force and anger and it worked… unfortunately I have to leave now so it’ll have to wait til I come back. Thank you sir for literally telling me that *face palm*

Its not your fault, its the way these things are designed. Its kind of a PITA to get the car into pairing mode. I had to completely take off my license plate to avoid any potential hangups and eventually got it on like the 30th attempt doing literally nothing different.

I tried to program my one key mean while the other one I ordered arrives so I can safely lock and unlock the car. I had to repeat the process 2 times and it still didn’t work. I then decided to call it and just wait til the other fob because maybe it just wasn’t saving it? I tried doing the glove box slot and now the car doesn’t start. I’ve read some forums saying that they’ve had to replace the battery. Any ideas what I can do before I go trying that or would that be my next best bet?

what you are doing is the short process. (I think) It's not going to let you program a previously known fob.

Well that sucks. I needed up doing the 3 10 mins interval process and it accepted the key I was trying and asked for the second one but obviously I don’t have it yet. So I pushed the power button and thought it worked but apparently not. Guess I’ll wait til the new one arrives Monday. I’m stuck though hoping you can give me your thoughts I tried to turn the car in again using the glove box slot and now it doesn’t even turn on even by doing that. I tried pushing it all the way and holding it, lightly putting in… even disassembled the fob and put just the literal chip and nothing…

You put the fob in the correct way with the buttons facing to the right?
